Beautiful. Congratulations! Care to share your proposal story?
Thank you! Gosh…where to start! It was the day before my birthday, and I was told that we were going out to dinner for my birthday, but it was a surprise as to where. I love seafood, and I just knew it was going to be at my favorite seafood spot in the City. I went along with the whole guessing game, but in my head I KNEW where I was going. Dinner reservation was at 8:00 p.m. (which I thought was kind of late, but hey!). Fast forward to our preparing to head out for dinner (of course I could not find my favorite bra, almost making us late). Nonetheless, we get on the train to head into the city. I still KNEW where we were headed as we got off at the same stop we always do for my favorite place. PAUSE…. First, I should have explained that I was constantly complaining about my biological clock ticking and how I was too old to keep waiting to get married even right up until we left that night! I would often do this in a joking way as my fiancee is 5 years younger than I. BACK TO THAT NIGHT…We had just taken a trip to the Bahamas so I knew that we were not doing any big for my birthday other than dinner. We got off of the train and walked in a diffrent direction than what I had anticipated. Needless to say we did not go to my favorite seafood spot, but we did end up at a seafood house where my financee’s friend is a chef. When we went inside my fiancee walked up to the bar instead of the host stand. I was confused … I walked over to the bar and about 20 of my friends hiding behind the bar jumped up and yelled SURPRISE! I was in SHOCK, she planned a surprise birthday dinner with my friends! It took me about an hour to calm down from the excitement of it all (I never had a surprise party EVER). We all had lobster dinners, wine and some sort of punch. I leaned over and told my fiancee to make some sort of speech to thank everyone for coming because alot of my friends drove a hour or more to be there for my birthday dinner. My fiancee got up to to thank everyone, I was barely paying attention because it was my idea to thank everyone anyway, right? Then it happened, that moment we all dream about, the moment we all think we will be prepared for, but I was not! I was a blubbering mess. I was crying for about 5 solid minutes and it was not a cute cry…trust me! My fiancee spoke about how I was the one and then placed the ring on my finger as I was still crying. I said yes and the whole reastaurant stopped and cheered! It was a great moment! Best moment of my life thus far! Two divorce attorneys evey bought us drinks!
