It was kind of an exciting moment. Maybe I’m just weird.
I was browsing Etsy and ran accross a set of 2 cake forks with daffodils on the end and Mr. and Mrs. stamped below the tines. They were advertised as being from 1950, real silver, and one of a kind.
Daffodils are meaningful to us because on our first date, FI showed up at my dorm room with a bouquet of tulips (my favorite) and one daffodil. He was shy, but my roommates, who had taken him to the store (no car) explained that he had bought the tulips and then seen the daffodils at a stop light, and jumped out, defied death, and grabbed a daffodil.
Now, I have very little idea what actually happened. My roommates were desperately trying to get us together. But it was a fun story, and it made me laugh.
So when I found these forks, I had to have them. My mom thinks it’s stupid and we should just use plastic forks. What she doesn’t get is that I don’t need fancy forks for the purpose of having fancy forks. I loved these because of the meaning that they have for us.
That first bouquet (excuse all the clutter please, I was living in a dorm room):
