Oh no...is there a minute clinic near you or a take care clinic that you could run to quickly to see if they can take a look? It sounds as if it's infected. Mrs. DG might be able to help you in the meantime with a quick short term solution.
I agree that seeing a doctor is the right way to go in this case.
Any suggestions for quick fixes until I can get in to see a podiatrist would be much appreciated. I am trying to walk as little as possible, and I ditched two pairs of uncomfortable shoes. I will probably try to wear open toed shoes (flip flops or something) all weekend because cramming my foot into a shoe hurts like a b$^#@.
It sounds like all the microtrauma has caused an infection that may require antibiotics. There's no way for me to know unless I can see it, but I agree, this needs a quick stop-in to a provider and flip-flops in the meantime!
You can try topical antibiotic ointment (like neosporin) but chances are you are going to need something systemic.
*** This is not medical advice, but merely some thoughts based on what you've presented here... As always, there is no substitute for being seen by a provider in real life!***
I agree! Go see a medical provider ASAP because it sounds like you have an infection and you don't want to leave that untreated for long.
Thanks, I'll see if I can head into a minute clinic or something this afternoon to at least get an idea of what's going on. Worst case scenario, I will keep it bandaged and use topical antibiotics until I can see someone...
Thanks guys!
Thanks for your help everyone- I left work early because the pain was so bad and went to a cilnic. They perscribed oral antibiotics, I hope this clears up soon!!
I'm so glad you went! I had to find out what happened because I was worried about you. I hope you have a great weekend!

I devleloped several corns on my feet in the last few weeks (walking in uncomfortable shoes more than usual), so I used corn removers from Dr. Scholls, along with a pumice stone to try and take them off. This worked for every toe except my little toe on my right foot, which is now swollen to about 2x it's normal size and is very painful. I bought some comfortable heels yesterday and my left foot feels great, but because my right toe is so swollen I have to cram them in and it's very painful to walk around.
Yesterday I tried putting ice on it, soaking it in Espom salts, bandaging it with Neosporin...but I think it's actually worse today than it was yesterday...
Any suggestions? I'd love to get myself into a podiatrist ASAP, but I'm traveling out of state for a friend's wedding in the next few days and the earliest I could go to a doctor is next week.
