Your mom will prob be throwing you a shower. Mine did and sometimes they like to do these things as surprises.

Do you think maybe you could take one of the girls out for coffee or a drink and bring up the wedding and maybe drop hints about how you’re super excited for the pre-parties? Or is it possible they aren’t planning on doing anything until you get back from eloping?

Why don’t you just take it upon yourself to put together the party and let your friends take it from there?  You could tell your closest friend that you’re inviting a bunch of girlfriends to go out and have fun while you’re still “single”, but “hope everyone has a few ideas”…or something along those lines.  And if she doesn’t pick up on your hints, blatently ask her, “Hey, since I’m getting married in two months, want to get all of our friends together and throw a big bachelorette bash?”

Your friends might just need a bit of a push to get motivated…you did say you were the planner in your group of friends!

Maybe you should just ask them if they want to go out for a night on the town with you.  Sometimes you have to be direct.  It sounds like you’re not having the traditional wedding/wedding party situation, so maybe they don’t know you want one.

Since your engagement is pretty short, your friends might be thinking that you don’t want a shower and/or a bach.  There’s not a whole lot of time to plan something.  Also, traditionally the bridal party plans the parties, so if you are eloping and not having a wedding party, your friends might not think it’s their place to plan something.  Just talk to them and see if they had anything in mind.

You also might want to be a bit nicer to them, even on message boards.  I would not want to plan a party for any friend who said I “sucked.”

Since you are getting married on such short notice and are eloping instead of having a “traditional” wedding, your friends may think you don’t want/need a bridal shower or bachelorette party. Bridal showers and bachelorette parties are usually hosted by the bridesmaids and since you don’t have any (I’m assuming since you said friends and not BMs) it probably didn’t even dawn on your friends to throw you one. If you want a fun night out with the girls, why not plan something yourself?

Just tell them!  If you haven’t been engaged that long they probably just haven’t thought of it.  Even though you’re getting married soon it doesn’t always click that way.
