I am sorry. What stage is he at and what type of cancer does he have?

@FoxyBride14:  So sorry 🙁 I am very close with my grandpa and can remember the devastation when we learned he had prostate cancer. He has since gone into remission but is currently experiencing unrelated health problems. Hugs to you – I completely understand what you’re going through!

I am so sorry, I am going through this with my grandfather, I have a post about it somewhere. My grandfather has nonhodgkins lymphoma and is supposed to walk me down the aisle and give me away. We found out not long ago that his chemotherapy didn’t work and we’re waiting for him to see a specialist because he is too old for radiation and the chemo ruled out many treatment options..

He said, “Maybe I won’t need a tux after all.”

Ugh, it’s awful and I’m sorry. I hope that yours fares better than mine. I call my granddad once or twice a week and talk to him and try to keep his spirits up. It’s all you can really do.

{{Hug}} I’m sorry you are going through this… I remember when my grandfather announced his cancer on his birthday.. I ran out of the house and cried.. He finished his radiation the week before our wedding… He’s in what is considered a “short term remission” since full remission takes 5 years.

Hugs!! My grandfather was just diagnosed with lung cancer, and to think of him not being at my wedding is devastating.all you can do in the meantime is love him and spend quality time as much as you can, and create memories that bring you joy.

@FoxyBride14:  I’m so sorry that you’re going through this, you and your family are in my thoughts! Please don’t feel like you are selfish, no one could have predicted this happening and buying a house before you get married is a good plan not a selfish one.  Just spend as much time with him as you can and enjoy each moment as it comes.

@FoxyBride14:  Be glad that you still have time with him now.  Unfortunately my grandparents on both sides have passed.  I wish I had more time to spend with them….

Sloan-Kettering is a good place. They do clinical trials, so I’d definitely see if he’s eligible to participate in a trial — because the drugs aren’t run through insurance, he can get a drug that’s tailored to his cancer mutation type rather than just his general cancer diagnosis.
