I was given my grandmas engaement ring for my 21st – eek 20 years ago..
Anyway, the claws weakened and need to be redone but the stone is gone. It was apparently an Amythest (but they werent sure) and I can still recall how it flashed deep red and blue.
I cant find another amythest that comes close but purple sapphires do fit what I remember. Im worried about restoring it exactly right but have no way of finding out.
Wht do I fit this setting out with??
Pics are below.

Find out what the stone to the left is? And go from there?

It the stone color changed, it might have been an alexandrite.

It didnt exactly change, was a deep purple that when in sunlight, would throw flashes of red and blue. Ive been researching like a crazy person to find an appropriate replacement.
Is it wrong to go with another stone entirely seeing as the stone has to be replaced anyway??

I would just replace it with whatever you like the most.
