My grandmother passed away a couple months ago and it wasn’t until after she died that anyone in our family had seen her wedding pictures. My grandfather died when my mom was little- 39 years ago- and she never dated anyone else. I remember asking her why she never wanted to date after his death and she said why would I… I already found the love of life. It is such an amazing story. I had never seen a picture of my grandfather until after my grandmother died in July. I think it hurt too much even after all that time for her to share pictures with us. She always shared memories but never pictures. Along with all the pictures we found her programs, wedding napkins, and list of gifts that everyone had given them!!
I thought i would share this story and some of my grandmother’s wedding pics with you guys. If anyone else has pictures from their parents or grandparent’s weddings- Please share!
The 1st picture is of her father (my great grandfather) walking her down the aisle, the 2nd is of my grandparents walking out of the ceremony, and the 3rd is of them leaving for their honeymoon.

@Allyser: I love your Grandmother’s dress!
I found scanned slides of my paternal grandparents’ wedding as well as my great aunt’s wedding. Of course it was a competition between the sisters. They are on the other laptop so I’ll hopefully remember to load them tomorrow.

What a sweet story.
My parents pics are in a box in the basement somewhere. I’ll have to track them down. I also have the portrait of my great-grandparents from their wedding (between 1900-1910, I believe. I dont know the exact year.) I’ll take a quick pic of it tomorrow.

Those pictures are so sweet! I love old wedding photos!
My hubby have our parents, grandparents, and great grandparents wedding pics hanging on our wall in the stairway, it’s so fun to look at them and see how different everybody is now and laugh at the trends.

I am finally able to load the pictures-
All but the last one is from my Grandparents’ wedding, the last one is my great aunt’s (they were the MOH at each other’s wedding, you can’t tell but the MOH at my grandma wore a creamy yellow version of the blue dresses you see in the toss picture) There are colored versions of the posed but the shadows are so severe, the b/w show much more detail.
The lady in the marceled hair and the gentlemen next to her are my Great- Grandparents who came over from Norway just for the wedding- my grandpa came through Ellis Island as a teenager just as my grandmother’s parents had (she was born in Brooklyn)

this is so cute I’d love to see more photos like this of people’s relatives – I’m sure most people would have to go home and scan them. I don’t keep too many of them on my computer at work!! haha

Aw!! These are picture from my Grandparent’s wedding. They are like the ideal couple to me, having never really seem many happy couples growing up. My grandfather died recently died of lung cancer, and going threw all their wedding picture just reminded me how long they’ve been together and how much they love each other- they where high school sweet hearts. So adorable.
