We’re definitely going to throw them a party..and possibly a surprise vow renewal when T and I get married (could be as late as next spring though).
What family and I are talking about doing: having a great dinner somewhere..very elegant. A lovely cake, and all the grandchildren.
A few weeks ago we had on here, the martha stewart photo centerpiece and I’m going to do that for each table, with pictures of them throughout the years…and have flowers all around the base of the illuminated centerpieces.
Any ideas to make the date even more special?
It’s not like every couple will see their seventieth anniversary, although I wish everybody would have much longer than that!
They’re the cutest and sweetest couple in the world. I love them so much and want to make their day as special and filled with love as possible.

That’s so wonderful – 70 years together is a rarity for sure.
Maybe you could do some research in old newspaper archives and find headlines from their anniversary date in 10-year increments…ie: on their 10th anniversary (or 10th year…)"headline" happened….showing different changes in the world throughout their life together.

How inspiring, bellenga! What a true testament for us all.
I think it would be really sweet to make a family tree of sorts, showing the generations that have sprouted forth from them over the past 70 years. You could list all of the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. I’ve alway been inspired by this project and this one, too. (Both from dear Martha.) That way you can have it framed and presented to them at the party. You could also make it in a book format (and include photos and special messages) by using a program like Blurb.
They are going to LOVE whatever you do! :o)

also maybe a faux time capsule from the year they were married. Or a "this day in history timeline" to look back on all the world has gone through during their marriage.
P.S. Wikipedia does a good this day in history
