Pix from my hair trial in Philly, hairstylist used 'the rod' which I tried to google image, but couldn't find anywhere. I love it!! Will look great with my cathedral veil (when I finally get it!)

The curls surprisingly help up very well all night. Those pix are of us at the train station waiting for a train back to NYC which got halfway to Trenton then turned around and brought us back. So 3 hours of dealing with that mess, then straight out to dinner in Philly and home by around midnight it looked like he had just styled it.
He used this special tool called 'the rod' where you wrap the hair around it and your ends are around the most narrow part of the rod. It get really hot, and the stylist has to wear a special glove b/c it's kind of dangerous. They ordered the rod in order to achieve the look all the celebrities are going for, the loose waves.
It looks awesome!! Did the curls fall out after a while?

@EquiBee - yes, that's good old 30th st! My hair trial was done at the Lion's Mane on 12th & Pine. Markus Aman was my stylist. He is so sweet, skillful and accomodating. He is working on a wedding hair website, trying to branch out more into bridal.

For June he charges $95. I think normally he's $85, but most vendors charge more in June as they are in higher demand. The $95 includes a surcharge for June and the fact that he's coming to my bridal suite, so I think it's pretty fair.
Oooh, I love your curls! I had never heard of the rod before!
I'm wearing my hair down and curled for my ceremony (also wearing a cathedral veil!) and then pulling it up for the reception.

@brooklynbride - your hair is absolutely gorgeous! Is that from your hair trial? I can't image a more beautiful hairstyle for you, love it!
Look for "clip-free curlers," should be similar to this magical "rod" you speak of that created that amazing look!! I searched on folica and found this one:

but there were several others that were similar. Spring-loaded curlers never seem to work well for me... I think I need a rod!
@littlemissmango - I saw that pic online too and it is the closest thing I could fine. But the rod Markus used was LOT thicker starting at the base and got thin by the end. And the reason it worked so well is b/c it gets REALLY hot, so hot he had to wear a special glove. I wonder if the reason I can't find a pic is because you have to have a cosmetology liscence to purchase one?

Ohh, yeah that could be. I have a marcel iron, which is loads better than a spring iron, but it is difficult to use and is meant to be used by professionals. I've had plenty of burns to prove that one, lol! What about this one?

@moderndaisy - Thanks! Yeah, that's from my hair and make-up trial. :) Love how it turned out! Actually just mailed in my deposit today. :)
Moderndaisy I love the softness of your curls. My hairstylist used lots of hair spray for mine!! And I love the sideswept of Jenn's too and think Im going to ask for that on the day of!! :) Where will your veil be placed?
