I just got my e-ring. Where we bought if from said the setting would fit a diamond .2ct -1.2ct. We opted for a 1ct diamond. Do you think the diamond looks too big on the ring?
The halo seems to small for the diamond, it is underneath the diamond. Our options are either send it back and get a smaller (3/4ct) or see if we can get the halo made bigger…..any suggestions???? Has anyone had their halo made bigger?

Do you like it? That’s what really matters.
From the little I know about rings (all from when we were shopping, ha), they’d have to recast the entire ring if they were to make the halo larger. Would they charge you for that? Would that charge be worth it? If they do make the halo larger, they’d either have to use larger side diamonds or there’d be a gap between the halo and the center stone. That gap would mess up the side view, which is pretty cool and unusual. I actually wouldn’t go for a smaller stone because I think that the hidden-halo top view is neat. Again, though, it’s really your (and your FI’s) opinion that matters in this case.

@mmandylou: I have to agree, the diamond looks way too big, you can barely see the halo. Talk about a first world problem though! Lol that rock is gorgeous!

Yeah, it looks like a solitaire from the top. I’d see if getting a larger halo was possible.

@mmandylou: personally I prefer the diamond to be kind of say down into the halo. It def looks like a diamond that doesn’t fit into that particular ring. However if you have your heart set on a 1ct diamond it would be hard to go down to a .75. Can they order a whole dif ring rather than rework that one? I have seen plenty I halo rings like yours tho with the diamond perched above like that so it all comes down to your preference and what makes you happy when you look at your ring. Good luck.

judging from the look of the setting and the way the prongs are positioned, this isn’t meant to be a “halo” ring in the sense you’re thinking of. It is what’s called an “under” or “hidden” halo.
Did you see this setting with a stone in it before you bought it?
I think if you want a traditional halo then you should return this and pick a new setting. I don’t think it’s ever going to look the way you want it to because the diamond will always sit well above the halo.

i do think it looks out of proportion – i would look for a new setting.

If you are looking for more finger coverage, then yes – the halo is too small for that purpose. However, I think your ring is absolutely gorgeous. I love the side view. It’s like a hidden surprise (and really – it’s not that hidden).
You have a beautiful split-shank Ering with a halo that has a unique twist. I really like it!
ETA: It such a classy look – I hope you keep it.

I have to agree with many others. The halo appears to be too small for the stone. I’d try to get a larger setting. I’d be afraid of loosing the stone as it is high above the setting. I personally would prefer it being lower in the setting.

If you wanted the halo to be more noticeable then I’d get a bigger halo. I wouldn’t get a smaller diamond though, your stone is gorgeous! 🙂 I recently got a larger stone, my halo can fit up to a 2 carat, but I think if I did go any larger than what I have now, my halo would syour how yours is, more hidden.

I think the halo looks too small myself. I do like a halo with smallish stones best but this one you can’t even really see the halo from the top.

@mmandylou: I apologize as I have no helpful input..but I love the way it looks! I love when a halo “peeks” out from underneath the diamond.

I really like the dropped halo look!

It would bother me. I would look for a new setting.
Both are pretty individually though!

Honestly, not a fan of the small halo. Looks like a turtleneck.
