Mine makes the best mashed potatos I have ever tasted :) I didnt even like mashed potatos until he served them to me one day!
He normally acts as my sous chef, because I am too crazy to completly give up the kitchen. He really likes to cook game, like Phesant and Duck, which I would not want to cook.
He also makes some crazy concoctions when he is really hungry, that I am always slightly terrified to try. Like, Macaroni & Cheese with Corndogs inside it.
Oh yummy. Love this thread. Actually I love any thread involving food.
FI makes the most delicious chicken parm. I request it every birthday/anniversary.
@ILikePink: My bf is the same, he makes these concoctions that I can't imagine eating, like french fry, cheddar, pepperoni, bacon, pizza. He will put french fries and bacon on Everything.
Mainly though I am the cook, I love to cook, and my bf is my sous chef. I'm training him to be a great cook though ;)
Oh I wish...SO's crowning glory is only scrambled eggs, but he makes them exactly how I like them haha. I would love it if he cooked!
My FI makes the best french toast! Its his "go to" when he can tell that i don't feel like cooking dinner. & I Love breakfast for dinner!
As soon as the warm weather hits, the FH pulls out the smoker and I hardly ever cook again until the snow flies. There is very little wrong he can do with the smoker or on the grill. Come on warm weather......I am getting sick of cooking.
DH makes really good anything.... my favorite things that he makes are chili and chicken noodle soup from scratch. He also makes really good pulled pork! (but Im not eating meat anymore soo Im kind of missing out on some of those things!)
my hubby is our family's main cook--he even has a blog about what he makes :) my favorite might be home-made mac and cheese. he's made it a bunch of ways, including imitating my favorite restaurant's version of pimento mac! he also makes this yummy dish where he puts a garnish of feta cheese, celery, and walnuts, among other things, on top of roasted sweet potato slices---deeeelicious!
I wish FI could cook. He's cooked for me 2 times. Fist time was what I call "speghetti soup" basically the speghetti was so overcookes it was failling apart that it was like thick liquid, eeewww, and the second time was "mac and cheese" which ended up being macaroni in a substance that best resembled skim milk, runny and no tast. needless to say I do the cooking though I make him help sometimes with prep.
He likes making smoothies an milkshakes though which are nice, though I think I make better ones, but I gladly let him make them.
I am definitely the cook in the relationship. He'll help me with things here and there, but he usually leaves it for me to do. Which I don't mind whatsoever. I have the tendency to take over cooking when there's someone else in the kitchen. It's bad. I wouldn't mind him cooking or attempting to cook a nice meal though. He stays away from it as much as possible. Especially because he always has to ask questions while cooking.
He will bake once in awhile though. He makes delicious chocolate chip cookies.
My hubs loves to cook! I had no idea! The fist couple of months he was doing most of the cooking. I took over last week and every meal was awful! I almost cried and told him I'm giving up. He said he'll take over! Love that guy.
I cooked for the first 4 years of our relationship. LITERALLY he cooked twice and one of those two times I pretended I had a migraine because it was so bad. All of a sudden he started making a couple of "easy" things (Campbell's chicken and rice casserole) and now really branches out! From October-January I only cooked ONCE! I was so busy with finishing up my research, planning the wedding and had started my full time job (before graduating!) that I didn't even want to think about cooking so he took care of it all! It's usually fairly simple stuff but I have zero complaints!:-)
He cooks more than I do and can cook up some pretty fancy stuff but his quick go to meal is Noodle Nonsense.
Cook up some thin chinese noodles and then stir fry up whatever veggies we have lying around. And then he just throws in spices and sauces that he or I am craving at the moment.
He makes the BEST mexican king ranch chicken! He made it for me on our third date and I was hooked! :) Everytime I am in the kitchen I break something, so he is our main chef!
This morning H made my son some yummy french toast! He's a great cook. Amazing on the grill too! He loves to experiment in the kitchen.
He makes an amazing authentic Italian meat sauce for pasta too!
Oh, goodness...tonight my FI's making fish tacos for me...mmm. He also makes some amazing Italian food. But right now he's praising me, because I'm baking bread...
I hateee cooking with a passion (but I love to bake lol)!! Our deal is FI will cook when we get married and I will wash the dishes which is fine with me! He makes the yummiest chicken alfredo with broccoli :) He has worked in restaurants a lot throughout high school/college and is a great cook...definitely a plus, since I manage to burn a grilled cheese sandwich :( lol.
FI doesn't cook much at all.. His "speciality" I would call it is BBQ.. I can get him to do that without much teeth pulling.. But he still manages to occasionally burn the steaks.
Otherwise if he actually cooks for me it's a rare occasion. The best meal he made before was a rack of lamb with rosemary and garlic and other spices.. Along with crab legs, strawberries and something else.. It was for Valentines Day and it was amazingly so good! I asked him to make that again and he complained how much time and work went into it.. That meal was a lot better than a lot of ones I make.. I'm definitely not a chef but at least its some kind of food. But I like making deserts and baking though..
LUCKY!!!
my husband's specialty is baked chicken or he makes a killer grilled cheese LOL thast about as far as his cooking goes
My husband and I LOVE to cook together - he used to be a cook in a restaurant and I just picked it up as I went. It's now one of our favorite things to do. Usually he acts more like my sous chef because I'm pickier than he is (and I have the vision, haha) but when he cooks alone it's always delicious. His specialties are cajun ranch wings, or elizabeth sauce shrimp pasta (like an alfredo but with an old bay seafood-y goodness)!
My husband can only cook frozen dinosaur chicken nuggets and waffles with the waffle iron. And he does, frequently. Everything else he leaves to me.
Just wanted to say I have really missed you around here, Bellenga! It's not the same without you :)
My husband.... can't cook. lol. I had to leave him instructions on how to make tacos (with the ground meat and packet) when I was working late last week.
BUT
He can follow a recipe and for my birthday this year he made some pretty amazing chicken parm for me :)
My husband is really good at cooking pretty much anything. But he truly excels on the grill and smoking. He's def the grilled fish and pan sear fish one out of the two of us. :)
Can't wait for warmer weather and we can break out the smokers!
And I LOVE that he loves to experiment new cooking techniques. Our latest thing has been dry aging. We dry aged a prime rib and this weekend will be trying day 21 of dry aged steak! Dry Age day 14 was DELISH!
