I just had to laugh at this, not because you are frustrated, but because he sounds so much like FI that it’s scary. We think,” Why not get it done now so we don’t have to worry about it later?” They think “Why do today what i can put off until tomorrow?”

I would just go to home depot myself, get the needed parts and have them ready the next time he walks in the door. “See hunny? now you have EVERYTHING you need, so you can fix the curtain rod right now.”

I had to giggle b/c it reminds me of me asking FH to change a light bulb. I’m too short to change it even if I stand on a chair and I refuse to buy a ladder when FH is tall enough to change it. We haven’t had a hall light in 4 months!! It drives me crazy!!! I think we all have issues like this at some point. I’ll keep my fingers crossed he fixes the curtains!

I’d call someone to do it and let him pay for it, maybe then he’ll get the point. Ugh, men! 🙂

Yea that’d not be ok. After about a week of that shit I’d just be like “Okay, you tell me why your behavior is okay. No really– I’ll wait.” lol

@ktisthatbees: OMG this is so true.

I asked my FI to throw out the trash and he got up. I accidentally threw in a “when you get a chance” and he sat right back down to do nothing.

@ktisthatbees: ha as much as I hate to admit it it reminds me a lot of my FI too. I can leave him a ‘honey-do’ list that’s pretty easy (put away folded laundry, bring up dishes, fold clothes in dryer) because I work and he isn’t right now and no, two things will be done and I’ll have to the rest at a later time. Ugh, sometimes! lol

It is ok. I first told FI not to accept the one month free insurance thing on his credit card through RBC. He did. Then I tell him to cancel it, and he said he did but I just looked and he has two charges from the last two months for this stupid credit card insurance. Then I am like “CALL VISA IF THEY AREN’T SUPPOSE TO BE CHARGING YOU!” and he is like “When I have time, stop nagging.” Now there is a charge for feb.

Ugh!

what sucks even more about situations like these, is when I do finally get fed up and tired of waiting for FI to fix something he has sworn he will fix, and do it myself, he gets so pouty and upset. “I was going to do that, why did you do it? I said I would do it.” Well dearest FI, it took me 10 mins to do it myself, as opposed to waiting 2 more months for you to finally get around to it. But yes, FI thinks he can bat his pretty little eyes at me and all is forgiven. ugh. Like you said, not a big deal on the grand scheme of things, but still annoying.

And that’s exactly why you learn to do it yourself. Once they see you don’t need them for every little thing, they’ll start inventing things they have to do so ‘some of them’ is in the house and it isn’t just a reflection of you. Ha.

I’d be up on that ladder nailing holes in the wall so it stayed up and hiding it with the fabric. Let him fix it another time, once you’ve made more work for him!

@bakerella: hmm, ok so you’ve got wall anchors, screws, and the drill. Unless he needs putty to fill in the old hole, then I call foul on this whole ” I need a part” BS. 🙂
