I don’t know how he does it. I unloaded the clean dishes from the dishwasher yesterday morning, and then today I opened the drawer to get out a spoon for my cereal and there were only three left out of our service for eight. I checked the dishwasher and sure enough, five spoons. How did he use so many? What did he use them for? We had pork chops for dinner last night — a spoon-free meal … and then he didn’t have any frozen yogurt for dessert … so how did all those spoons end up in the dishwasher? Did he have friends over for a pudding party? Is he cheating on me with some spoon-loving skank?
WHAT DID HE DO WITH ALL THE SPOONS???!?!
Part of me wants to ask him about it, but then this other part of me is like “do you really want to be the kind of wife who nags her husband about spoon usage?” But seriously, it’s kind of annoying. Five spoons in a day and a half? What are we going to do for the next few days when the dishwasher is mostly empty but we have no clean spoons?
WHY CAN’T HE RATION HIS SPOON USE? The same spoon can be used more than once if it’s being used for the same thing! Each day’s yogurt doesn’t need its own fresh spoon! Just rinse off yesterday’s! He’ll happily drink out of the same cup for days at a time, but we are chronically short on spoons because he always gets a new one out (and refuses to use the big ones).
Anyway, these are the sort of deep questions I’m currently wrestling with. What mysteries are you working on around the house? Any good clues/leads?
I need to get to the bottom of this whole spoon thing.

LOL this post is hilarious. But seriously though… What does he use all those spoons for????!!!!?

@iarebridezilla: long story short… just buy more spoons. buy a lot more spoons. Sometimes its those silly things that drive us nuts… yet they have really simple solutions.
I use spoons like that… and I would not change my spoon use. Everyday I do need a NEW spoon. A clean sanitized-dishwasher-clean spoon. And I need a new spoon for each thing… call it a pet peeve or what not.

My flatware set came with double the teaspoons! My Mother-In-Law said it’s because they are the most used/lost.
I am still trying to figure out why Darling Husband can toss his dirty clothes feet away from the hamper, but can’t manage to put them in the dang hamper!

We are always using up our spoons. I like to eat non-spoon things with spoons because I have a really small mouth and lots of forks are too big to fit (that’s what she said?)
Like I use a spoon for corn and other vegetables, and for eating cake/brownies/soft bread things. I dunno, we use a lot of spoons. I also use them to stir my coffee and tea and that can happen a few times a day.
I ate a chicken pot pie with a spoon yesterday so maybe I just have irrational spoon usage issues myself?

Yeahhh….I need a clean spoon every time. Yesterday’s yogurt spoon was yesterday’s… We run the dishwasher a lot.
My mystery… how much TP goes missing when he’s around! lol

@iarebridezilla: Funny post, but I beg to differ about rinsing off yesterday’s spoon. That idea is just gross. Do you have anu idea how many bacteria can build up overnight? That’s why we use hot water and detergent to wash dishes. Rinsing just doesn’t cut it.
I would simply go buy some more spoons.

Mine uses too many cups. Like 4 or 5 a day. We have 8. I feel your pain!

At least your husband puts the spoons in the dishwasher – that is a plus! Mine leaves his dirty dishes beside the sink, next to the dishwasher. Everyday the dish fairy comes an places them in the dishwasher for him.

This is SO me. We have two people and 24 spoons so I use them like it’s my job. If I’m warming up a bowl of soup, it is not unusual for me to go through three spoons. I can’t explain it. I’m weird (and so is your husband apparently)

My husband gets after me for using too many cups!

We use our spoons too – more me than him since he’ll take a dirty one out of the sink or dishwasher, whereas I’ll use a clean one for every little thing!
For that reason, we have two sets of teaspoons and two sets of tablespoons.

I’ll happily use the same bowl/spoon for my cereal every day until it’s time to run the dishwasher again. Haven’t died yet! Haha I hate feeling like I need to run the dishwasher when it’s not full just because we’re running out of something. Apparently I need to seriously beef up the spoon supply!!!

Five spoons? Oh boy don’t look in my dishwasher! There are probably ten spoons in there! Granted I have tea spoons, ice tea spoons, and then the large and small spoons that came with my silverware set plus oh about 4 more spoons that are part of a casual dinnerware set and 5 more that someone gave me that are like larger teaspoons.
For me..let’s see 1-morning tea & coffee, 1-lunch yogurt, 1-afternoon tea coffee = 3/day on a workday probably all small teaspoons though..on a weekend add another one for cereal!
I have enough not to have to wash them all the time. What can I say? Some of us like to spoon.
My Fiance on the other hand leaves mugs all over the apartment. He uses them to drink milk out of and constantly gets new ones. Or leaves them in odd places – so I put in dishwasher, then later he’ll ask me “Where’s my mug I left in the bathroom?”…Um well it’s in the dishwasher! LOL

HAHAHA hilarious post. Its like my H with cups. Every other day I carry like 6 cups downstairs that were on his bedside table.
