Ok, I have no practical advice for you, but I'm totally jealous you could already book your venue. Mine won't let me book til exactly a year before, which won't be til this May. Talk about frustrating. Jealous, jealous, jealous. : )
Your veil sounds absolutely beautiful! Good for you, Shelbystar! As soon as I read about the swavorski crystals at the bottom, I thought of the dress "Hannah" from http://www.leaannbelter.com .
LOL, I bought my wedding favors long before I had a color scheme, a venue, a dress, or anything else! My sister laughed at me at the time, but I managed to make it work...it has absolutely nothing to do with my theme, not that I have one exactly, but i like it so I'm making it work!
As for your veil, I think you'll be able to find a dress that "matches" and if it doesn't "match" exactly, who's really going to notice?! Afterall, a girl can't have too much bling or sparkly's on anything!
Congrats!

So I am new to this being engaged thing (since Christmas Eve) and my hunny and I have been very focused on all the practical details like finding a venue, setting a date, getting my divorced parents in the same room to discuss finances, putting down deposits, attending a bridal expo, interviewing several wedding coordinators, hiring one of the aforementioned wedding coordinators and finally booking the ceremony/reception venue on our wedding date (which is May 23, 2009).
With all that official businessy stuff done, my MoH was urging me to look at dresses and shoes and veils and tiaras and all the girly lovely things brides usually get all excited about. Well...I am not really that kind of girl and I reluctantly visited three bridal shops in town with her this past Monday. Though I was overwhelmed at first by the seemingly endless rows of wedding dresses, I started to acclimate to all the prettiness rather well. Keep in mind I am not anywhere near actually buying a dress, when we wandered through the third bridal boutique...it happened: I found *the one*...the "one" being a beautiful fingertip-length veil.
And being the repressed romantic with a nice shiny new credit card, I BOUGHT IT! It was not cheap either (for a veil) but I don't regret it at all. I just had to have it. It is white and perfectly delicate and handmade with a very tiny embroidered flower pattern near the bottom edge and swavroski crystals sewn at the bottom so they hang over the edge and sparkle in the light. I've never seen a veil like it before...my MoH thought I was nuts but when I put it on she started crying which made me cry...and well, then the shop lady started crying and it was like a scene right out of a movie.
So....I now own the veil before I own a dress. I love it so much! It was my first purchase just for me as the bride and I feel appropriately girly and bride-like when I wear the veil but now I am kind of wondering if I put the cart before the horse.
Has anyone else purchased something for their wedding attire a "bit" impulsively before? Also...can I match a dress to a veil?
