Have you tried putting it in rice? That can draw the moisture out of it. It's possible though that since you have tried turning it on already, it might be fried.
Mine did this in October (it fell out of my back pocket into the toilet.) I put it in a bag of rice for a few days, and it worked again - but the screen was so dim I could hardly see anything.
I ended up using an old Samsung Blackjack until January, when my hubby was able to upgrade and gave me his old iPhone. It is an OLD one, and works like crap. I get to upgrade in July, and I want the new Motorola Atrix.
Do they have any repair places where you are? We have a store that can repair damaged phones.
@amariem25:have you inquired as to the balance of the early termination fee? It might not be that expensive and you could switch to verizon now. I recently has a similiar issue (my contract is up in august with them) and the fee was under $100
I agree with @DalmatiaRN.
If you look on the website, under FAQs or TOS, you can find the cancellation fee. I believe that fee is based on a 2-year contract and it is pro-rated. So, let's say that fee is $375 for ATT for a 2-year contract..every month you stay with them, it goes down 15.63 (I believe). So, it should be a pretty decent price to cancel early. I think you'd be okay. If my math is right, it would be cheap. Again, I could definitely be wrong. I'm just going by what happened when I had to terminate with t-mobile a couple years ago :)
yeah I've tried drying out the phone for days. I put it on laboratory dessicant, which should be even better than rice, and it still doesn't work.
We are calling ATT right now to find out about the cancellation fee...
Otherwise I heard that I might be able to just drop my iphone data plan and pay for a normal phone plan for the next two months. At least I'd save some money then and I could buy a cheap $10 phone to use.
@amariem25: WRONG! I asked the same thing, and they said the unlimited plan I had was technically no longer available, and if I dropped it, I wouldn't be able to add it again later! Make sure you ask about that!

My iphone is totally destroyed. I spilled my water bottle on it and now it doesn't turn on, there is no backlighting, it won't charge or anything. I don't have a warranty for it anymore and I'm only 2 months away from renewing my contract and getting a new phone. I've tried drying it out for days, but it still doesn't work.
I've tried putting my sim card in a really old phone I had laying around but that won't work either!
Do I have any other options? Iphones (even used ones) seem to go for a lot on ebay and online still.
Has this happened to anyone else? What can I do? Anyone have an old iphone they want to give me?
Also, I don't really want to renew my contract with AT&T again. We were planning on switching to verizon in 2 months. So it's not like I could go to AT&T and beg them to give me a new phone 2 months earlier.
