*Wall of text* skip ahead to dress pics if you want =)
I did it, it finally happened!! I found THE DRESS.
I can’t tell you how many dresses I tried on. I tried on dress in my home city, and went to 5 different places. I thought I had found ‘the one’ at two different places. Both were blush, lace, and mermaid style. I didn’t really cry for those dresses. I thought I looked good in them, everyone told me I looked good in them, so I thought that is what I would get.
Well these last two weeks I was out visiting my FILs who live on the other side of the US. MY FMIL and I went dress shopping. I wanted to give her the experience that she missed out since she doesn’t live in the same state (and she’s paying for the dress, so that’s the least she deserved!). I tried on all the silhouettes for her. From there we decided that I didn’t actually want a mermaid, I wanted a sheath, form fitting dress. I can’t tell you how many dress shops we went to! Nobody seemed to carry what I was looking for! Big ballgowns, and mermaids seem to be the trend out here. I few days ago I finally decided on a designer, Nicole Miller, who had the style I was aiming for. Simple, sheath, elegant, with maybe a little something extra, and NO POOF. I think we went to about 9 bridal shops out here! I was starting to believe I wouldn’t find anything. I was starting to get anxious, lose sleep, it was crazy.
Today is my last day out here. We got up this morning with intents to go to 3 shops, one of which had the largest Nicole Miller selection in N. California. That was our first stop for the day. Before we started out we said that our intention was to find 5 dresses I really love, and out of the 5, we would find ‘the one’. We walked into the shop, and one dress caught my eye, not a Nicole Miller. We grabbed it at the Manager’s urging. I also grabbed 3 Nicole Millers that I had my eye on. I tried on the first dress, cut out back, lace all over, beaded back, and O…M…G… *Love*.
Look at the detail on the hem! *Swoon*
Boy I must have looked exhausted to the Manager of the store. I really was happy, I just had almost no sleep last night!
BAM! Dat back!
I call them my angel wings! I have a tattoo on my shoulder in rememberance of my mother, so even though it will be covered up, the wings will be there =) This picture does not do it justice!
With a cathedral length veil. I was crying my eyes out at this point! I also felt extremely lucky that this dress was so close to my size. I am pretty petite, so most dresses I tried on, swam on me.
The dress is Style 1402 by Olvi. They just got this sample in yesterday. And only by chance did they find this designer (who is from the Netherlands I believe).
Whew, it truly has been a journey! But I finally found the dress!
I would love to direct anyone to this shop who lives in the Bay Area and needs a sheath silhouette dress, send me a PM. =)
