She’s hiding b/c she’s sick.  Put her in her kennel for now or in the bathroom, and get her to the vet.

EDIT: My cat started hiding last week and she was sick, so I took her to the vet and found out she has severe asthma and couldn’t breath.  Also, milk isn’t good for cats.  Try pure chicken broth without onions, garlic, and salt.

stay positive!  she could just be having an off day or not be feeling well and not want to interact a whole lot.  i would def try to get her to the vet appt if at all possible, and hopefully they can figure out whats going on with her.

good luck!

First, try not to freak out.  Animals can sense your stress too.  Also, don’t put any more milk out for her.  Milk is actually bad for cats, despite what Looney Toons had us believe all those years (I got yelled at by an animal shelter rep for giving a starving cat milk).  Get a can of tuna in spring water, open that up and leave it in a dead end area of your house (like a bathroom or kitchen).  Somewhere that you can corner your cat.  When you (or your FI) go to grab her, use a towel.  Sick kitties can be mean and if she has claws and teeth she will use them.  I hope that everything goes well for both of you!

I agree with a PP. When a cat hides, they are usually sick or injured. Our persian went into hiding for 2 days, he had a bad cat bite from a fight. When we finally found him (outside in our garden underneath some plants) his bite was abscessed. I’m not trying to scare you, but I would get her to a vet ASAP.

🙁 Our cat did that once for a few days, but the vet said she was fine. We never found out what was wrong. I have heard that they do this when they’re sick. Too bad they can’t talk to us! I hope your kitty is okay!

Definitely get her to a vet ASAP. Other posters are correct, cats hide like that when they are sick. I agree with Mighty on the milk – it’s not good for cats – and as soon as you can catch her, keep her in one room with food, water, a litterbox, and some blankets to cuddle up in. It could be something serious, or just something that needs the vet. R’s parent’s 18 year old cat seemed like she was on the brink of death – hiding, weird meowing, etc, and before we took her to the vet everyone just gave up, assuming she had something terminal. Turns out she had an abcess from one of the other cats biting her, and it just needed to be taken care of by the vet. She was fine and is still alive and kicking two years later. Make it a priority to find your girl and make that 4 o clock appointment! Good luck and please keep us updated.
