- Wedding: August 2011
I’m planning a Baltimore wedding from NY and finally went down to look at our top five venue contenders last weekend. We’ve narrowed it down to two choices: The Engineer’s Club and the Tremont Grand, both in Mount Vernon. Both are beautiful and I’m sure we’ll have a wonderful wedding at either, so it’s not a terrible position to be in.
The Tremont is stunning but almost too nice–the rooms are screaming for a black tie event, and Fiance isn’t even planning on wearing a tux, we are doing nice black suits for all the men instead. But it is gorgeous and they have hands down the nicest staff I have ever come across.
The Engineer’s Club seems more us–it’s like hosting an event at your own home (if you happened to own a mansion in Mt. Vernon!). But their pricing is a little less straight forward and we know very little about the quality of the food there.
So my questions: have any of you been to or hosted a wedding at either of these sites? And if so: how was the food at The Engineer’s Club (FI and I are both really into food so this is pretty important to us)? And how formal was the Tremont wedding? We’re not going informal, but we’re encouraging cocktail attire, not black tie. BMs will be in short black dresses and Groomsmen in black suits.
I have dates on hold at both of these venues until Thursday. I soooo wish I could go see them again one last time but unfortunately that’s not going to happen, so I’d be so appreciative of any advice from anyone who has had any experience with either of these venues. Thanks!
