- Wedding: May 2014
I just wanted to share with you what happened this weekend.
First of all, a little background:
My Fiance and I have been wanting to get married for almost two years now, but for some reasons we couldn’t until now, we are super happy. We’ve been a little down because we also couldn’t do much wedding planning but now we are slowly starting. Stuff here (Mexico) are not like in the US, people have made fun of me for trying to start planning 9 months before the wedding day, I didn’t feel much support from my family or friends (since we have some other weddings sooner).
Anyways, we are finally starting doing wedding stuff, and one of the traditions we have here is that we don’t exactly have “bridesmaids” or “groomsmen”. We have godmothers and godfathers who help us on several rituals of the wedding ceremony: lazo, rings, candles, Bible and arras (sorry not sure how are they called in english). We picked our bridal party and invited them to a casual dinner party (hotdogs lol), not telling them yet in what ritual they were going to be participating.
We ate and talked and everyone had a warm family like time, and then we started telling each couple what are they going to do in the big day and why. This is very important to us because we sometimes feel that the rituals are just that and the meaning is just lost. We want to take each thing and make it really personal and meaningful.
It was an amazing time, we felt very close to each person. We are very happy and exited to make everyone a part of this day that we’ve been waiting for so long.
:)) Thanks for reading!
