Why does he have to be there for fittings? One of my groomsman is in Texas, which is why we chose to do a national chain to rent tuxes, so he can just go to a shop there. Couldn't he at the very least just get his measurements taken by a professional out there and give them to you so you can order him a suit/tux?
Could he do a reading or be an usher?
Ok, I know Alaska is super far, but like Tulip said too, we have people in our wedding party from all over the country, NH-TX-CA-FL, if you get the tuxes/suits from mensware house (and if there is on in Alaska) it's no big deal at all.
But if that can't happen for whatever reason, why not have him do a reading during the ceremony?
Tulip, he is VERY tall and hard to fit. I would hate to leave it up to chance and not have him try anything on until so soon before the wedding.
The men's warehouse in AK is on Dimond Blvd, in Anchorage. :) I was there!
I would just tell him to make an appointment. What school is he going too?
well sorry! I can't help about the FBKs then, cause I am not too sure about that area... I live like 300 miles away.
I think the only one is in Anchorage. just tell him to make a weekend of the drive. :) j
Well, in case the "fittings" are kinda a cop out (i.e. cost, comfort zone, numerous other things) have him do a "reading" or passage during the wedding, depending on the kind of ceremony or your religion I'm sure there's MANY other ways he can participate.
Thanks hisbunny, I appreciate your help.
KLP, it's not a cop out...he just doesn't want to stress me out. :)
Hey there - thought I would mention that I have a bridesmaid coming to NYC from AK for my upcoming wedding and she's getting her measurements from her tailor/dry-cleaner and sending them to me. I'm sure that he can get fitted somewhere in Fairbanks and send you the measurements, no? Or there is always a reading too, not a bad idea!

I have a little brother that is in school in Alaska, so he declined being in the wedding. It makes complete sense, because he can't come down for fittings, etc. But it's very important for my immediate family to be involved in my day. What can he do for the wedding since he can't be a Groomsman?
