I will keep them in my prayers, a good friend of mines little niece just had it a couple weeks ago, the doctors didn't even medicate her for it...they say that the regular flu is far worse than the swine flu. They actually just medicated her mother (who has cancer) instead. They kept her away from people and hydrated and out of school for 7 days and then she was fine. She just had a fever and bad tummy ache and thankfully nobody around her got it. If you have been around him I would suggest calling your doctor because of your immune system, I'm sure they can give you something too. Good luck.
Thanks! My SIL said that like 1/2 the school was out with it last week. I was just around him over the weekend...yikes. Thanks for the advice and the reassurance that the regular flu is worse. I'm just worried about his size and his history with dehydrating
They are definitely in my prayers! They will be just fine, we have to claim it!
Aww - I'm so sorry to hear that. I have a 3 year old and am making an appointment for our town's next H1N1 shot day. (Which may mean a 4am steak-out to ensure that he actually gets in before they run out again.) Your in my prayers. Good luck and god bless!
Oh, I am so sorry! I will definitely keep him in my thoughts. :-( He is a tiny little guy, huh? My 5-year-old daughter weighs over 10 pounds more (and she's not considered overweight, just muscular). Poor little guy! It sounds like you need to stay away from him, though!
Oooh Noo:( My two sons both just got over the regular flu and it was a very hard time. I hate to see little ones sick. I hope that he gets better and fast. I'll keep him in my prayers
They just got back from the doctor and he DOESN'T have it! Phew. The school nurse told him them he does but the doctor tested and he doesn't...he has some other visus and needs to stay home the rest of the week. That's a good thing, but he still gets very sick. I'm glad it's not the swine flu...or flu in general.
Sorry for the freak out...he's just so little...Why would the school nurse tell my SIL that he has it when she doesn't know for sure? Getting people all worked up like that when she doesn't know for sure.
Poor thing! Glad he doesn't actually have swine flu and hope he gets better soon!
Awww poor kid! That's so awful! I have a weak immune system, too - I understand the extra-concern these things need! But at least it isn't the swine flu!
The school nurse is probably slightly mis-informed and under orders to send kids with certain symptoms home - and to warn them that it is could be swine flu which she took to mean "Tell them they have swine flu!"
You can't be sure until you're tested whether you have Swine Flu or not.
Whoo, glad that he doesn't have it!
They aren't testing many people, and instead telling people who have flu-like symptoms they "may" have H1N1. I think that's greatly inflating the #s.
Still hope he feels better soon!
Yea she called my SIL and said he has every symptom, has it, and to come get him right away. He has to stay room the rest of the week anyway and she has to stay with him (I offered to babysit since I'm off this week but she wont let me over). I thought they had the vaccine for H1N1 but my SIL said in PA they are only giving it to dr., nurses, babies, and like city school districts. I'm not sure if that is right but at least they had the regular flu vaccine.
thanks everyone. I hope he does too
Oh good I'm glad he doesn't have it. Yea they are pretty limited with the vaccine everywhere. That school nurse so should not have done that! How scary!
I know. My SIL rarely gets worked up about stuff but I know she was freaking about this. He seemed fine yesterday when I was there and then the nurse called and said he had it...she just shouldn't have jumped the gun but warned and sent him home. Think of all the other parents she's probably freaking out of the weeks.
What a mess!!! SIL just called any my nephews cousin has the swine flu. SIL had called his mom to tell her she had to take my nephew to the doctor and so his cousins mom quick took him. Now the cousin DOES have it...my nephews just spent the weekend camping with him and sleeping in the same bed!!(sorry that was confusing)
Does anyone know if it could have been too early to test my nephew? Like I know mono has to be tested in a certain time frame to get an accurate result...
hmm not sure, but I do know that here (Ca) they won't even test them unless they have the signs....fever, stomache ache, vomiting...Gosh I'd probably freak out if my kids came home with it, but I'm such a worry wort mommy!
Yea he had ALL the signs...he didn't have the rash but over the weekend he had something that my SIL said looked like a rash, but other than that he has all the signs right now. I just hope he doesn't end up in the hospital! I'm sure he wont...being positive
Oh my goodness... I don't know how the testing works, but I'll keep you all in my prayers!
There have been some nasty cases in my area recently & I hope to God that none of these little kids have H1N1. It's so scary... kids are so vulnerable!
Definitely keep us updated Sanddollar!

Please pray for him bee's...
My SIL just called and told me and my mom hasn't found out yet, but she's going to freak! Not only about me nephew but me getting it since I have a weak immune system...
My nephews are small for their ages. My brother and SIL are not big people so it's only natural that their children would be tiny. My little nephew is 7 but he still wears size 5 clothing and is only about 35 pounds. It's just super scary because he has been in the hospital more than a few times over the years for dehydration while being ill. They take care of him, it's just that he is so small everything hits him a little harder than a bigger child of the same age. And then if his older brother (he's almost 10 and only about 50 pounds) gets it....oh my I hope they are going to be alright :(
