Hello everyone, newbie here that finally signed up after a month or two of stalking the dress forum Love seeing all the photos of your gorgeous dresses!

I’ll start of by introducing myself – basically I am getting married in THREE MONTHS and I am still unsettled about my dress – I’m having it custom made by an Etsy seller called Yalan or Rose and her store name is Whitesrose. Just very recently she started facing some problems with Etsy so I’m getting really anxious, but otherwise I’m sure I made the right choice in getting her to make my dress because I have done my share of research. I am just worried I did not give her correct design details or the dress would not turn out as how I envisioned it, because you see I have mixed not two but three different designs into it!
Let me know what you think, even if you think I’ve gone overboard. (Caution long essay ahead!)

This is a Fara Sposa dress #5275. It’s from a 2013 collection and my favourite dress out of all the ones I’ve tried on in almost 20 bridal shops. It was pretty much perfect – simple enough yet very romantic with the blush and floral ruffles. It was the last one as it had been discontinued so if I wanted it, I would have to get the one I was wearing. Plus it was on sale for HALF the price as it was a sample. The only reason I didn’t get it was…the edges of the ruffles were fraying, and it looked really worn and cheap. I know some of you may be calling me an idiot but I did think about it a lot and even went back the following week to try it on again – and still loved it – but I just couldn’t do it. If you found your dream dress in a state like this would you have gotten it?

So anyways, when I was going back and forth thinking about getting the sample, I started looking up possibilities of getting a dress custom made. Long story short I decided to go ahead with Whitesrose after contacting about 10 Etsy sellers. By then I was already looking very hopeful about this and also the fact that I might be able to get the dress designed EXACTLY the way I wanted it! Before I continue, just thought you should know I LOVE a long/huge train and I had always wanted lace on my dress. So I wanted to incorporate that into my custom dress though wasn’t sure how yet.

I started by telling Rose (Whitesrose @ Etsy) that I wanted the dress style/pattern to be like the Fara Sposa: the floral ruffles, the drop waist, high back and the mini sweetheart neckline. I did also let her know that I would want to add length to the train and possibly change the bodice to lace.

Then come the next dress that took my breath away.

LOOK AT THAT TRAIN!! I have no idea who the designer is – haven’t been able to find it. If you have an idea of who it might be, do comment below So that was the train that I wanted and I sent her the photos. What do you think? Will it go with the ruffles for my dress? Also, it doesn’t seem like just a simple long train. It looks, um, convoluted? I’m not sure how to say it…but it doesn’t look like it’s one of these:
So that’s the main style of the dress and train done. Next is the dress bodice. The only thing I knew was that I wanted to incorporate lace, hate too much beading, and wanted a drop bodice like the main dress. But another thing that bothered me was the colour. I wanted a colour the same or similar to the main Fara Sposa. But Rose advised that it will be difficult to get the lace in that colour as they will have to custom dye it, and even then might not turn out like it. So we started thinking about going with ivory lace on top of the champagne gown. I couldn’t decide on it until I found this gorgeous dress!!

She is gorgeous! Oleg Cassini #CWG568. The bodice was perfect – ivory lace and embroidery on top of champagne lining. Really love the whole dress as well, but I know that the natural waist and the style of the ruffles would not suit me very well. I have tried almost every dress design, so I know … I love ruffles but the only ruffles that would suit me are the ones on the main dress. I have tried similar design to Vera Wang’s as they are so popular, but the ruffles didn’t look good on me .

Was trying to find more photos of the dress and found a post by another Bee! Here’s the link to her post: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/exchanged-my-first-dress-for-my-dream-dress-long-story-with-pictures/#axzz3AeN6TWjX

Had to borrow one of her photos:

Just LOVE the details on the bodice!! I sent Rose the photo and even she said it was gorgeous! She said she wouldn’t be able to get the exact same lace, but the embroidery will be hand drawn and sewn so she can design it exactly as the photo. The only thing we couldn’t decide on was the beading. She asked if I wanted ivory or silver beads and sequins as it’s hard to tell from the photo what colour the beading was. I think it looks more like clear glass beading. I’m really worried about this because I really do not want my dress to be too “bling”. The reason I love this bodice was because the beading on it is so subtle and would really love to replicate it. Any ideas on what we should be using?

So thankfully we have reached the end of my ‘story’ lol. Rose estimated that they will be able to ship my dress by mid-September. I can’t wait, but at the same time, I’m so anxious because I don’t know how it’ll turn out! Do you think the different designs will work together?
