    Hi everyone. I have gotten tons of mail asking about my Michelle Roth Marina wedding dress I ordered from China last year and haven't had the time to respond to everyone so I thought it would help if I posted here.

    This is Jasmine's website:

    http://www.jasminesbridalshop.com/index.php?task=productdetail&id=4724

    This is Jasmine's e-mail. They speak English very well:

    jasminestailorshop@gmail.com

    They were selling on eBay but I just saw they aren't anymore which is a bummer but you can still read their feedback here:

    http://myworld.ebay.com/jasminebridalshop&ssPageName=STRK:MEFSX:SELLERID

    I see the price on their website is more then I paid but still a great deal. I contacted them off of eBay and worked with them from start to finish as they were not familiar with the dress.

    I paid about $200 with shipping and another $30 for the bolero I sent them pics of(Fallen Angel). They added on $60 for the train shown in the pics but it turned out funky so I actually took it off before wearing it. They misunderstood in the beginning that the dress had a train. It was my error as the pics (the pics of the dress on their website look like the ones I actually sent them) of this dress were so hard to find anywhere and the ones I e-mailed them only showed it busseled so they didn't realize it had a train.

    They did add the bussel shown in my pics below but it was really weird. It actually folded up into a pocket on the back of the dress and didn't bussel like a regular wedding dress. It was a piece sewn on so I just took it off. I looked great without it and still had a bit of a train anyway.

    The only other issue I had was the way the back was made. It didn't come up far enough In the back and the bust area would not stay tight at all no matter how tight I laced the back. The back needs to come up higher to keep the front from being loose. Straps would also be a good option and can be tucked inside just in case.

    Other then that I was so pleased with the dress, the service from Jasmine's and the fabric of the dress. Very soft lace and thick quality fabric. Shipping was amazingly fast. Only 5 days to CA. They would most likely work with you on the price. Tell them I sent you. my name is Christine Walton and my dress was ordered last July 2010.

    Always use Paypal to send the payment as you will have recourse in case anything goes wrong.

    I absolutely LOVED my dress. It was amazing even with the little issues. And just keep in mind that your wedding dress is basically an accessory for your wedding day. It's part of the illusion you are creating. It does not need to be perfect. No one will notice the little things that you see.

    Be sure to order with plenty of time for alterations if needed. They work fast but you don't want to be stressed about the dress as it is such a big part of the whole wedding.

    OK I'm usually not an advocate of replica dresses but that one turned out incredibly well. I'm familiar with the Marina dress, and if I had looked at your photos first without seeing the title I would've assumed that's the dress you're wearing. Beautiful photos!

    Thanks Meliss. I just fell in love with the Marina and there was no way I could afford it. It turned out better then I ever hoped. You can imagine my feelings when I opened that first e-mail with pics from Jasmine's lol I was prepared for the worst and about cried when I saw my dress. I was so happy.

    This is just another option for all of us on a budget. I had a back up dress just in case. A beautiful Pronovias. I am so happy I took the leap of faith and had the Marina made.

    I think it's great that you got what you wanted and that you had a beautiful wedding. Let us all try and remember that Michelle Roth actually is running a business on her work. I can't really give Kudos to you for paying someone in China to copy someone else's work. It is a clever way to save money? You bet. Just my 2 cents.

    It's close. The real Marina has a lot more layers I think but I read it was really heavy too. I think they did a great job giving me the illusion of the Marina. That's the pic I gave them in the begining and as you can see the train is nowhere to be seen lol That's how the train issue came up but it all worked out.

    Noted SFChick. Knock-offs are common in all of the fashion industry. Comes with the territory. If someone can afford the real deal then more power to them. I've also communicated with brides that had serious issues dealing with Ms. Roth personally. They didn't get the same dress as the sample dress and she wouldn't help them. They ordered the dress and then after the bridal store wouldn't help they spoke to Ms. Roth at a trunk show with the same results. It was take it or leave it after paying 5K.

    @cwcottage:

    I agree. Its the look of a dress we go for and not the name. I think its beautiful. I'm sure no one was wondering what designer you wore.

    Exactly. No one I know would even know who MR is lol It's totally about the look not the name. That's why I wasn't anal the dress be a perfect copy. Just convey the look I wanted for the wedding and theme.

    At the risk of getting a sh*t storm here...

    The poster didn't start this thread to get feedback on the moral issues surrounding replica dresses

    While your opinion is completely valid, I don't feel it was very cricket of you to come and rain on her .... happy thread

    I'm not trying to be mean.

    Thanks for that but it's okay. SFChick has a point. I'm not offended.

    As far as what she said about it being a cleaver way to save money...yes it is! That's what these boards are all about don't you think? Being cleaver, great ideas to share and for most of us SAVING MONEY!

    @Oneeleven: agreed.

    I am a bride and I don't know who she is! lol Anywho, this thread was meant to help people who wanted to go the same path as the OP apparently because she couldn't respond to every single question individually. And it did, inform. I did not buy a replica, but if I saw a top I loved for 500$ and could make it for myself for 20, you better believe I would make it!

    @Oneeleven:

    Agreed. There isn't a need to cause drama. I suppose some feel moral about a copied version of a gown. However, when you look at Maggie vs. Da Vinci or Davids Bridal, you will see that they all are similar. She just chose a dress she loved and asked for a similar option.

    This dress is BEAUTIFUL!! So thats all that matters.

    @cwcottage: You have gorgeous wedding pics. I can see the happiness all over your face. I love your hair! I am so glad you had a great experience and thanks for sharing. I heard a lot about Jasimines and now we know that they can succeed.

    Wow! Your dress turned out amazing! If I didn't know any better, I would have thought it was the real thing. Did you have any issues with getting your dress on time, or with communication? I know that's a problem a ton of bees run into when working with a replica company.

    I ordered the dress in July and it arrived about 3 weeks later and that was with Jasmine's having to make the dress totally from scratch as they had not made this one before. No issues at all with the time frame. I would recommend at least 2 months ahead or even 3 just to be sure though.

    All contact was via e-mail and there were no issues at all. They do have a phone contact as well and I have heard that works very well but I am hearing impaired so I did e-mail. They are so good about contact and getting right back to you. Sometimes within minutes.

    The only issue was with the train and that was not their fault. I sent pics but none had a train. My fault and they were very nice about it.

    Over budget is pretty much a given with weddings lol Just save where you can. Scale down where you can and just remember the guests aren't going to remember most of the details. When they are asked what they remember the most they will tell you the bride, the food, and how the bride and groom made them feel. Always make sure to speak to each and every one of your guests. That's what they remember Smile

    Ooh they sound wonderful. Glad your happy. Its also positive they have a phone number.

    The company I used to get my replica did as well. That was a great tool for me.

    Glad they also have great email contact. I have seen a few dresses by them before. Yours is my favorite. I love the detail and lace is hard to create. Some companies fail so I am happy to see they are reliable.

    Congrats again!!!!!!!!!!!

    The lace was a concern for sure. I have heard bad things about the quality of lace used sometimes. And you can't tell in pics lol The lace used in my dress is so soft. All the materials were very comfortable and of good quality. The only part that wasn't soft was the ruffle detail around the top of the dress but it had to be a stiffer type lace so it would stand up. The beading is amazing too. Tons of bead work and sparkle. It sounds like you had a great luck with yours also. It's always nice to hear what others experiance. I made a point of tellling everyone my dress was made in China lol Not at all what anyone expected! Thanks again!

    @cwcottage: Beautiful bride...beautiful dress...thanks for posting this. I've been keeping my eye out in the hive for a good replica dressmaker. Being on a budget myself, I want a backup plan in the event that I love a dress that's out of my price range.  Thanks again!

    You can always e-mail pics to Jasmine's and they will give you a quote. The more pics you can send the better they can copy it.
