- Wedding: August 2012
I wanted to share the names of my vendors from my August 2012 wedding. They were absolutely wonderful to work with, and I received so many compliments from family and friends. I would recommend their services in a second. They all went above and beyond my expectations. My father is in the wedding business and I am very critical – so I really do mean it when I say that these vendors earned my highest respect and recommendation! I am very thankful to them.
Our reception hall: Elm Grove Woman’s Club – This hall is gorgeous. No photographs do it justice. We spent no money on decorations because the hall is so beautiful. I looked at more expensive venues in Milwaukee, and I think this was by far the perfect venue for my wedding. It is very charming and elegant. The ladies are very kind and organized; they would always promptly respond to my emails and phone calls. Rental includes twelve-hours (we were even able to decorate the day before), full china, tables, chairs, the wood floor, chandelier, baby grand, sound system, vintage couches, and a full parking lot for your guests. I also loved how we were able to choose our own caterer and bartending service.
Our florist: Melissa from Sendik’s on Oakland – Oh my goodness. I have seen photographs from weddings Melissa has done, and they are all flawless. And STILL my mouth dropped when I saw my bouquet and the church arrangements. Everyone kept asking me if they could hold my bouquet, but I didn’t want to put it down all night. She has such a wonderful vision! I can’t say enough good things. Since she works through a grocery store, the prices are lower than average. I strongly encourage you to use her for your wedding.
Our band: Amy Yassinger and the Yazz Men from Chicago – Amy and her band made my reception. The sound and performance was absolutely wonderful and they really knew how to work the audience. My maid-of-honor leaned over to me during dinner and said: “I forgot there is a live band behind us!”. I could tell Amy and the band were very prepared, singing our first dance song flawlessly. This was worth every cent! Everyone is still talking about how talented they are.
Our bartender: Rick of Bottoms-Up Bartending – Very professional and great at communicating with us. I was amazed at how lovely their set-up was, too! They receive my highest recommendation and truly did exceed my expectations!
Our caterer: Sendik’s of Whitefish Bay – I always worried about dinner, because I think a lot of people have high expectations at weddings. I think Sendik’s was a great choice (Thanks Mom). They really went above and beyond with quality and presentation. Everyone told me how delicious the horderves and entrees were. They were so easy to work with and I didn’t have to worry about anything that evening! As well, we used Drea from the Whitefish Bay location for our wedding cake. She is very experienced and our red velvet cake was beautiful and delicious! We were able to save money by ordering a smaller two-tier cake with sheet cakes.
Our photographer: Michael Curtis Photography in partnership with Moroder Photography – Michael Curtis Photography is from the West Coast, as he is a close friend ours. He did an absolutely spectacular job and the photographs fill us with joy every time we look at them! He knows exactly how to capture the moments you will always remember, and even took fun “photobooth” images, too! I recommend his services, whether it is here or out West.
