It sort of bugs me that only one of them has a long dress. It would look better, in my opinion if they were all short, or if two of them were wearing long dresses. But, it doesn't look terrible, by any means! I love mismatched dresses on BMs. =)
I think since they are all mismatched it's fine (it only bugs me when like 2 have the same dress, lol). I do agree that it would have been better visually if another had a long dress, but hey. What can ya do, right? :)
I love them. I don't mind the long dress...not everyone looks good in short dresses...this was probably what made her most comfortable.
I love it, they're going to look beautiful! I didn't even notice that only one had a long dress, it didn't bother me at all.
I like them :) I think the long dress is fine. We only had one girl in a long dress (my MOH) and it looked great IMO! Ours sort of looked way more mismatched before the actual day. Here is a photo, you can see how it all came together!! I think yours will too :)
I also am a little irked by the long dress, but you got the color down perfectly, i like the PPs picture, i bet that when the girls are all next to the guys it will look great :)
Thanks for the opinions. The long dress is FI's sister who is celebrating a huge weight loss - going from a size 22 to a size 10/12. She is very self-conscious about her legs/bottom half and wanted to be covered. I wasn't about to tell her she couldn't be. The rest of my BM's are 5'3" and under and none of them looked good in a long dress. I'm really in the frame of mind that I want them to be comfortable, although looking cohesive is somewhat important (but less important than their feelings). I figure the actual ceremony is 20 mins long and anybody who notices will forget by the time the reception rolls around.
If that's the only criticism, then I'm happy. @west.coast.blonde - LOVE how yours turned out - makes me feel even better!
I think they look great! I was planning mis-matched knee-length, but at least one of my BMs might be pregnant, in which cast they might prefer a long dress!
@west.coast.blonde: I LOVE the red and gray combo...holy cripes I wish I could change my colors now!! :)
I think the long dress is fine! If you are fine with it, damn everyone else. I think this looks great! Tell your FI's sister congrats on her weight loss!
I love that they all look really comfortable and happy in their dresses even though you can't see their faces. Body language says it all. And I really like that there is some added texture in the bunch. It adds complexity and richness to the lineup.
You're a nice bridesmaid!
It bothers me a bit that they aren't the same material, because I think it makes the colors look a bit different, but that's just personal preference. The dresses look good on each girl though. It just matters that you like it!
I think it looks great! I don't mind the one long dress - I think it adds to the mismatchy ness of it - awesome!
@milesbella: Thank you! I didn't mean to steal your thread, but I thought you might appreciate seeing how 4 different dresses came together :) When I just had cell phone pics of the girls I was questioning how it would all look in the end, but it worked out! I'm pretty sure your girls will all look fantastic too :) Can't wait for pics!
@Wannabe-diy-bride: Thanks to you too :) The grey was a little cooler than black would have been in Mexico!
Looks great! I love that your daughter's dress is age appropriate but still looks good next to the other dresses.
Another non-fan of the long dress unless it was to specifically symbolise that person being MOH or something (which I don't think is the case here). But most people seem to not be bothered by lengths so I'd say good job all around.

My maids have finally gotten all their dresses. My only requirement was navy blue (no preference on material, length, strapless, etc.). My maids range in age 12 (my daughter, MOH), FI's 25 yo sister, my two 40-year old friends and my 42 yo sister. Having them wear the exact same dress just did not make sense.
The lighting is off somewhat, but all together....what do you think? For shoes, I just asked that they be nude/ivory.
