Wow, that’s dramatic!  At least you know it’s only because they were worried about you.  Not the same thing really, but I once went out for the day with a group of friends and we decided to go and watch a film.  I turned my phone off when I went into the cinema and forgot to switch it on when I came out.  Turns out that Mum had been trying to get hold of me, had phoned my then boyfriend (whose phone was also switched off as he was at the cinema too) and his parents, to see if they knew where I was.  I must have been about 16.  I came back at the time I’d told Mum I would and she absolutely let rip because she was so worried about me, apparently.  Undecided

@Sweet.Sugar.Rose:  Hehe, at least she had a good reason to be concerned (unlike my mother!) Wink  And it is reassuring that you’d be missed pretty quickly.

I think this is almost a detriment of our now super-connected lifestyles. We’re used to having like 10 ways to reach someone. With cell phones especially, particularly for a person who is usually good about keeping it on ring and answering, if you can’t reach someone it is easy to panic because you’re like… why would they not answer?!?! lol.

I haven’t really had a situation so dramatic but honestly it seems like the kind of thing my mom would do if I didn’t answer facebook/email/phone for a day when I was in town.

My best friend dropped below 2 one night and passed out. He’s lucky someone heard him hit the floor. His dad had been in a diabetic come several times. If you can make it safer with a life alert, I say do it.

ok so this is going to reveal how much older I am than the majority of you but the first thing I thought of when I read this was the movie Steel Magnolias. After that movie I would freak out too. I think it is great that you have so many people who love you so much 🙂 I can see how it seems like a bit of an over reaction though. And I was totally expecting this post to be all Jerry Springer lol!

CorgiTales is spot on – with being sooo connected due to interwebz and cell phones, if people can’t get ahold of others immediately they start to flip out. Especially if the person they can’t reach has a medical condition of some kind.

I have some medical issues and have had my parents rush out to the horse farm before in a total panic because they couldn’t reach me and tried over 10 times in an hour. Well, I get limited cell reception when I’m at the barn but they were worried I got sick or had gotten injured. It is a bit irritating to have people hovering over you and worrying so much but I’d rather be cautious and feel it’s unnecessary than actually need help and have nobody aware. FWIW, whenever I turn my phone ringer off for a few hours I always text my family first to let them know so they don’t freak out.

PS – you changed your icon! It’s very cute.
