My FI’s parents do the same type of thing! They had really old, crappy pots and pans, and FI likes to cook so he bought some nicer non-stick ones. Not super fancy, but a lot better than his parents’. And they used them and abandoned the old ones, and managed to lose or damage half of the new set already. Same with the grill untensils he bought. And food he buys- if they haven’t gone grocery shopping in a long time and there’s nothing in the house, they cook a pizza. FI tries to be healthier and goes to get groceries, and they use them all! Grr.

ETA: Oh, and we’re both super poor college students. They don’t make him pay rent but they haven’t helped him with much, ever. Though they are helping some with the wedding so I can’t be too ungrateful, haha.

Yeesh, I can’t believe she’s doing that when she’s diabetic.  Has she not read a single pamphlet on diabetes?!  She can’t eat that stuff!  She’s gonna go blind and lose her feet if she keeps that up.

That really sucks.  Have you tried hiding the cookies?  Like in your tampon box or something?

I feel like if you’re living in your parents house they are entitled to eat your cookies. They aren’t roomates, more then likely they are helping to financially support you in some way. As long as she isn’t eating $800 worth of cookies that could pay for your own rent I would let this one go and appreciate the fact that you have a parent that is not only letting you live with her but your FI too.

DH and i have had the agreement of “the one who cooks is not the one to do dishes” so he likes to cook and i do the dishes. well when i cook he refuses to do dishes and says that im always te one to wash since hes always the one to cook. it drives me batty since he will just leave the dishes till the next day when i do dishes.

LoL… that’s most likely why she doesn’t buy any sweets at all.  If they’re not in the house, she won’t eat them.  My mom is a diabetic and is the same way.  She doesn’t buy sweets.. if they’re not easily available, she doesn’t seek them out.  By you bringing them in the house, of course she’s gonna dive into them…
