So I have a very little wedding budget. Because of this, I decided to buy my wedding dress online. The problem with doing that is that there’s never a guarantee that the dress you see on a preowned wedding dress website will be in the bridal shop to try on. So, I find a list of dresses I like online, then I go and try them on, and I’ve been successful in some areas, but in other areas they have me try on dresses that are similar but not the exact ones.
In all this mix, my mom has not been able to go with me to try on wedding dresses, so she’ll ask me to take pictures of them and then she always picks dresses because of stupid reasons. I’ve got my choices narrowed down to 3 FINALLY, and I wanted to get your thoughts on the dresses that I have narrowed down.
Dress 1- Mori Lee 4864– I really like this one. It’s expensive and a little out of my budget (not by much), but I’m sure I can find it in given time. My mom on the other hand hates this dress because she said the back of the dress has netting that can get easily snagged and ruined and it’s just too busy in the back. I want to say this dress is similar to another dress from another designer, I just don’t know which one. I LOVE the neckline and fitting of it though. I’m not really liking the one strap though, but that’s easily fixed.
Dress 2- Allure 8750- I love the strap on this dress and the back of this dress is simple like my mom said she liked. I like the fit of it.
Dress 3- Allure 8713- This is my mom’s favorite pick. I like the dress, but seeing as how much my mom and I have just butted heads on everything, it’s hard to say if I’m not liking this dress because of that reason. She said that the thing she looks at the most is the back of the dress and the back of this dress is just perfect. I don’t know if this dress flatters me and I’m having a hard time separating my thoughts from my mom’s approval.
Why is this so hard? She’s not seeing me in the dresses and she’s not paying for the dresses, but I know if I buy the wrong dress I’ll hear about it all night. What do you think of these dresses?

I love the first one – I think it is super flattering and that it looks unique compared to the others. Just my two cents. 😛

I like dress 1 the best. It’s the sassiest.

I love number 2, but 1 is not far behind. I would ignore your mom and get the dress that you love. At the end of the day, it is your wedding and you have to love what you are wearing.
You might check out scarlettscloset online, they sell sample dress. I have bought several evening gowns from them and they are in wonderful condition. They tell you about condition when you read the descriptions, usually they are just missing boleros and such.

I love dress 3, followed by dress 1. 🙂

I personally love the first one, however one of the main things I love about it is the one-shoulder that you’re not sure about. So I guess you can take my vote with a grain of salt. 🙂 Good luck!

What is it about dress 3 that people like? I guess I can’t see that I look good in it. I think if my mom never said she liked that one, i’d like it. Does this dress make me look short? Is it too busy? I guess it has no bling or flowers on it which is throwing me.

Don’t hate me…I’m going with your mom on this one! The 1st one is just too busy in the back for me…but it does look great on you! I ADORE the 3rd dress!

I would never in a million years hate anyone that takes time to respond. If I pick dress number 3, I’m letting my mom have her opinion validated and her only basis for liking it is bc of the back. I liked it before she said she liked it. Now I bet you’re thinking this might make for a great reality show 🙂

@born2teachuga: I like one best, two second, and then three. The back of the first dress is a bit busy, but really like the way the front of it looks on you. The thing that throws me off about the third one asymmetry of the skirt in contrast to the top of the dress, it’s not my personal style.

@born2teachuga: Do you have a picture of the back of dress three? I’d love to see what it looks like. 🙂

I love the front of the first one but I sort of see what your mom is saying. There is a lot going on in the back. I too feel like there is another designer out there that has a similar look. I am looking on the Knot. It’s driving me crazy!

I love number 3 best. It flatters your bust best and defines your tiny waist even more. You might be butting heads with your mom but I think she’s right on this one 🙂

I voted #1, without reading any of the comments. I like that it’s different from other dresses that you usually see. I had feathers on the back of my dress, and it was awesome- called it my mullet dress- party in the back!
And if your dress did by chance rip? That’s what you have the emergency sewing kit for, and you’re not going to wear it again, so I say go for it!!!
