I just got back from walking furbaby and my neighbour stopped me before we could go back into the house. We live on a farm and one of the reasons we chose to do so was to avoid neighbours. However, we have this one particular neighbour who is elderly and feels it is his job to patrol the street and spy on everyone.
Anyway. I digress. My neighbour flat out said, “MrsPanda99, I hate to tell you this but MrPanda99 is cheating on you with some harlot!” He actually said harlot, which I still find amusing. My husband is on afternoons this week and I happen to know he wasn’t even home today because he picked up a side job before his regular shift starts.
Apparently, a woman was seen entering and leaving my home and the only reasonable explanation is that my husband is cheating on me. The woman also left with an armload of stuff, so not only did she steal my husband but she stole my material possessions too. The harlot in question is my thieving sister, who I knew was coming by.
I asked my neighbour if the woman looked like me. He said, yes, but fatter (my sister is pregnant). I explained to him that nothing shady is going on in the ‘hood but I thanked him for looking out for me (and calling me less fat). Any time we go away, I know that nothing will get past this old guy. What I see as cute and endearing, my husband sees as annoying.
I find the whole thing pretty funny but MrPanda99 is quite pissed indeed. He wants to tell him to butt out (and I am putting it lightly) but I think we should just let it be. All is well that ends well.

I think those types of neighbors are the best kind to have. Someone will always have an eye out on your house.
I normally get our mail because I get home first. One day my FI stopped to get it (our mailbox is on the street so we usually just drive up to it) and one of my neighbors walked up to his car because she thought it was some random guy stealing our mail, haha. She had met my FI and his car is always here, but I guess she just had a mind lapse and didn’t realize it was him. She stays home all day homeschooling her kids so she is always there and I know she keeps an eye on things.
I think your neighbor sounds pretty funny honestly. Some harlot, LOL.

At least you know that should anything untoward ever happen (your house is robbed, house fire, you husband is in fact cheating etc.) your neighbour will be looking out for you! Sure, false alarm this time, but you could be extremely grateful for him if you’re ever robbed and your neighbour can describe their car, for example. 🙂

@adoc86: LOL, that’s so funny that she actually confronted your FI. I am glad my neighbour didn’t do that because my sister would have started crying. It is weird because we look very similar but I guess it didn’t register for him. As annoying as it can be, I do think it’s sweet and could come in handy! MrPanda99 better watch out, he’s being supervised!

Haha, that is funny – but I can definitely see why your husband wants to tell him to butt out. My parents have a very similar neighbour, but living in suburbia – the houses are rather close together and the neighbour is all up in my parents business.

@TorontoBride2be: My poor husband said, what if you were one of those crazy chicks who believed stories like that?! My marriage could end because of a stupid old man?! Dude, relax. I’m not crazy so there’s nothing to worry about 😛 If I thought he would cheat on me (let alone with my pregnant sister) then I wouldn’t be with him. I’m not naive enough to think it could never happen but I sure don’t sit around dwelling on it.

@MrsPanda99: Naww, he’s trying to look out for you. I find it incredibly endearing (and never toss up a compliment :D)
Besides, free away-from-home patrol!

@MrsPanda99: LOL! I live in an apartment and I think that if someone broke in and murdered me none of my neighbors would notice. You’ve gotta love rural life and elderly neighbors! Have you told your sister yet?

At first I was like :O but then I was like 🙂
I always like reading what you post too so when I saw your avatar I was like “Noooo! Sad day!” Haha. Glad it was a (somewhat) happy misunderstanding!

@MrsPanda99: Maybe he just figured that MrPanda has a type and that’s why you looked similar! 😛

@MrsPanda99: Got to love the nosey neighbor. I sure hope your theiving sister returned whatever she took. LOL!!
