@Melithehoneybee:  Do you have a few side views of your ring?  Would a w-band fit under the center stone?

@Melithehoneybee:  Then it sounds like you have your answer.  You definitely want a straight band, so you just need to decide on the style and learn to love your gap!  When an e-ring has side stones, I think it looks best to either get a matching band, or have a plain flat band (I have the latter).

@Melithehoneybee:  Here’s a side view of mine.  I would call it a medium height.  There actually is a small gap.  No enough for anyone else to notice, but just enough to bother me!

Love your ring! Do you mind sharing the stats on that gorgeous oval?

I think what I would do is get a thin (1-2 mm ish) plain platinum spacer made with a notch to fit with your ering, and then get whatever band you like–triple sided pave, larger eternity, etc. You will really want a spacer anyway so the pave doesn’t damage your wedding band, regardless of what you choose. That way, everything will be flush and no rings will be damaged.

@Melithehoneybee:  yeah, since diamonds are the only thing that can scratch diamonds, 2 bands with pave will rub on each other all day long and damage the diamonds and the weaker platinum prongs. Some people do it anyway, but I would be way too paranoid and OCD about it. So it depends on the setting–your ering looks like triple sided pave, right? It doesn’t matter what kind of setting is next to it, prong, pave, bezel, you name it, the pave will scratch and chew on it. You could also have your ering soldered to wedding band to prevent the damage, but it doesn’t sound like you want to do that (although you could do that, and get a separate stand alone wedding band). My first choice would be a spacer.

I can see why you love the diamond–it’s absolutely gorgeous! Ovals actually are not graded excellent or ideal because there are no ideal specific cut guidelines for most fancy cuts. I love the l/w ratio of yours on your hand; it looks so elegant!

@Melithehoneybee:  I LOVE your setting! No idea for a band…I’m getting an oval too and have been wondering the same thing. Just had to tell you that I love this setting..I remember reading your other posts and was looking forward to seeing what you picked…
