Green is the new tan in home decor. I see you have olive green dish towels… Paint the kitchen an olive green. The office is more difficult for me to decide without knowing you…. Brown?

Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore.  It’s a nice neutral color and depending on the light it looks either grey/tan/green.  It looks really nice next to white, too, so I think it would compliment your cabinets well.

As for the office, maybe something like Silver Fox by Benjamin Moore.  It’s a really great greige (grey/beige) color that’s is a wonderful neutral.

If you Google Image both colors you’ll see lots of rooms painted those colors to get a better idea of what they look like.  What’s also nice about Benjamin Moore is that you can get color samples to check out the colors before buying the big gallons of paint.

Here’s a blog with lots of great ideas for colors, too.

I agree with farmgirl.  Green looks great in kitchens!  Maybe something like this:

If you wanted something more of a neutral do a warm brown.  Maybe something like this:

I just looked those up quickly on Benjamin Moore.  You already have a bright yellow in there, so I’m sure you’re not afraid of color ๐Ÿ™‚

lighter versions ๐Ÿ™‚

Or if you don’t really care for the earth tones you could go a light blue/grey route.  Something like:

We’re planning on bringing in the green from the adjoined mud room into our kitchen…. You can see the yellow our kitchen was before primer in the background of the before picture

I agree, I LOVE green! My living room is green and the rest of the house is tan. Our kitchen is yellow, but it’s called jonquil yellow so it’s a bit more subdued. Here’s my loverly green ๐Ÿ™‚ Ignore the blinds, don’t ask! And there’s a bunch of bags because we just got back from shopping for the rug that the picture was taken for.

@dfurst: Oh my goodness.  That was one of the colors I was looking at.  I went with skyline steel instead and have been totally doubting it.  Does it look purple or lavender at all in person? I was afraid it would since the Grey Timberwolf on the card looked very purple to me.
