Do you ever feel like you left the house not realizing you have an invsibility cloak on? Every day I get knocked into by people in the street (did you not see me walking and moving over to make room for you?), ignored by people I see every day (like the people I say a nice good morning to on my bus line every morning), ignored by the 57 people who just walked through the door I was holding at the store without so much as a thank you nod from anyone and ignored on these boards (I make some pretty good points sometimes, but I hardly ever get engaged in the threads despite trying to engage others).
Sorry to vent. Just had a rough week and am feeling a little sorry for myself today. At least it's Friday.
And please, no snarky or sarcastic comments disguised as "just keeping it real". Just ignore me if you intend to insult me.
Ugh, I think we all have days like that. Sorry today sucks; I hope this weekend is better!
@VegasSukie: I feel like this sometimes too. I think it's pretty normal.
(hugs)
@VegasSukie: UGH I totally feel you! I've felt like that esp on the boards a lot more lately so you are not alone! Hope your day gets better!!
If you ever feel like chit chatting PM me!!!
@Crisark, @tranquility, @panterpeach and @ Mrs.Spring - Thank you SO much for your kind words. Sincerely. It made me smile to see your responses and feel better knowing I'm not alone. Here's hoping for a great weekend to all of you and to all Bees.
@VegasSukie - I'm a notorious thread killer - I post, people stop posting. It's sad sometimes haha. But I know exactly what you mean, when you hold the door for people, that's infuriating to me. Bah! I would have thanked you!
Haha. I've always felt that way. I finally gave up in caring and did my own thing.
I think there's a strange phenomenon on the sidewalks in NYC...sidewalk bullies. I routinely see people deliberately bump into others and clip shoulders. It makes me wonder if the anonymity of the city makes some people so hungry from attention or recognition that they seek out these moments.
Sorry you're having a bad day. :(
Awww I'm sorry. I have felt this way a lot, too, even by people who know me :( I don't get it...
But, in reference to your title post, less than a month until the new movie! That should make you smile! :)
@7SEVENJ9: LOL! That must be it! I'm a thread killer. LOL! It just sucks cuz sometimes I make pretty good points but it's like people respond to EVERYONE but me. LOL! Oh well. Won't stop me from trying. As for the doors, the other day I actually bowed after someone walked through without a thank you and said "you're welcome your majesty". THAT got their attention and they mumbled a sorry as they ran away. People suck sometimes.
@DesireeAnne: Word up! I'm totally starting to do my own thing on these boards. I post what I like and if someone responds YIPEE FOR ME!
I'm a thread killer too.
Not only do I kill threads, but I give birth to dead threads.
I always posts stuff and get no replies. Then someone else will post the exact same thing an hour later and get a billion replies.
I hate the internet lol
@Jeannine @ Small Chic: Sidewalk rage is a BIG problem here in NYC. Check out this article http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2011/02/22/sidewalk-rage-plagues-new-york-city-streets/
@acingthelace: I am SOOOOOO looking forward to the last movie. Still not sure if I'm going for the full 3-d Imax experience or keeping it more authentic. How about you?
@tranquility: Lol! It's offical then! I will do my best to keep an eye out for your posts (and the posts from all of the other lovely bees who took the time to console me today) and respond to them. Even if it's re: a topic I know nothing about. How's THAT for support?
@VegasSukie: I'll probably do it regular-style. I'm not big into the whole 3D hype--it kind of annoys me and I hate that i feel like I am watching the movie through sunglasses. But knowing me, I'll see it more than once, so I'm sure I'll see it every way possible! Can't wait!
And yes, I have been a thread killer, too. I totally feel all of your pain, lol
@acingthelace: THREAD KILLERS UNITE!!! LOL! I will probably have to see the movie both ways too.
ETA - I'm actually going to host a Harry Potter marathon the weekend before the opening so that me and my peeps can get really psyched!
@VegasSukie: Hahahahahha I love the "you're welcome your majesty" line. I HAVE to do that!! But I feel the same way you do sometimes, but then again I'd like to have an invisibility cloak sometimes just to run around like Harry Potter... :)
@VegasSukie @7SEVENJ9 @tranquility @acingthelace: Thread killers unite, indeed!
I've been veritable thread massacrer recently. Every time I see another one of my dead threads I think
"Oh-oh here she comes,
Watch out, Bees, she'll shut you up,
Oh-oh here she comes,
She's a thread killer..." (sung to the tune of Maneater, of course)
IRL, yes, I have my own invisibility cloak as well, but it seems to mainly apply to people with umbrellas. I may be tiny, but no matter how tall the person, their umbrella spokes make a beeline for my eyes every time. Umbrella people here also like to walk under awnings, and of course when there's about to be a head-on collision, it's always umbrella-less me who gets shunted out into the rain. Why do you need to be under the awning when you have your umbrella? Curse you, umbrella people!!!
:)
Man, I know exactly what you're talking about. I've been here a long time and typically don't get engaged either. Hell, I'll probably kill this thread!
@MissHelen: I'll take one for the team! I'm a thread killer usually too ;]
@linguo42: you just made me LOL and my cat got scared and bolted out of the room.
I think for the most part people in NY are just always in a big hurry... I kinda like the hustle bustle of big cities maybe I'm just weird
Yup- totally know how that feels to be a thread killer.
But to defend the other people, I regularly walk around in my own world--sort of the reverse cloak of invisibilty. I don't see anyone around me. My DH regularly pulls me away from walking into people and things. I try to make a point of thanking people, but sometimes I'm just not aware of my surroundings. So to all the people who hold doors for me or that I bump into--SORRY!
I say a big F U to those who you hold a door open for and don't thank you. I chime in with a huge loud YOURE WELCOME!! and pair it with a grin for those who do that to me.
@Oneeleven: I had someone give me a rude "YOU'RE WELCOME" after they let the door close most of the way in my face and I had to grab it to keep it open 0.o I was like, "For what?"
I deff feel you!! I live in NYC too and I don't know if it's because I'm short, but people are always walking into me, stepping on me.... twice I've actually been hit so hard in the face I've bled. I really don't understand it... WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING!
I feel the same way here. I started a post last week and got maybe like 5 responses. Someone else started the same. exact. post. yesterday and got 50 responses!! Makes me feel like people don't like me. :( But in reality, it's probably just bad timing!
@VegasSukie: Well, I'm in NYC and I always get surprised when folks say 'Hi' to me. Maybe you saw my shocked face this morning on the 3
@helenberrycrunch: Silly dog. If you wanted to be ignored, you'd have gotten a cat.
@VegasSukie: OMG we totally do a HP marathon before the movies!!! Except we usually do it on a few different days.
PS-Sorry for the total tangent on this thread
PPS-who will be the thread killer on this one!? Oh no!!
@linguo42: Usually, I can't removed him from my side. Today? He hates me.
@acingthelace: It's gonna be me! Oh-oh here she comes... ;)
My friend and I did the HP marathon thing for Deathly Hallows Part 1, and we're doing it again for Part 2...only this time we're not going to pull an all-nighter to do it, lol.
@helenberrycrunch: You wish. You're like thread palliative care compared to me. I'm the one who buries them in the end.
@linguo42: ahahahahaaaa! So true! My cat? Nowhere to be found. My 50 lb lab? In my lap... funny how that works!
I also am a notorious thread-killer/dead-thread-birther/and so on....
PS, I apologize to all for my clumsiness. I ALWAYS watch my feet when I walk and suffer from multiple near collisions DAILY. I apologize :( But! I ALWAYS say "thank you" when someone holds a door for me.
@helenberrycrunch: I see your Kevorkian and raise you a Jack the Ripper.
