Hi all you lovely Bees! My E-ring is finally here! It’s a 3-carat cushion cut yellow sapphire solitaire set in yellow gold with platinum prongs. My FI and I chose the stone together (yellow is one of my favourite colours), but went back-and-forth on the design. We looked at halos, we looked at vintage-inspired and carved settings, and then it almost looked like were going to set the sapphire in a pave diamond band without the halo. In the end, the more our jeweller designed on his computer and the more options he showed us… I just got so confused that I didn’t know what I wanted anymore. So, I left the final decision up to my FI. He told me he chose this setting because he felt it was classic and will stand the test of time. I think my FI did such a great job and I love it so much. I don’t want to take it off!!!
I love its simplicity but I do want something a lil’fancier for my wedding band, like this bee’s bands. I LOVE her wedding bands: http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/jennifercentola/26E629E0-6CE8-4D5A-A81E-64EC6529CF7B_zpsw4b416cg.jpg
Anyway here’s my little piece of sunshine, what do ya think bees? Does anyone else have a simple yellow gold setting (and can I see it)? If so, what kind of wedding band did you pair it with?

Thanks for all the kind words BEES!
Unfortunately, now I am so damn upset. With my ring it seems one of these things is not like the other… Tonight my FI noticed that one of the prongs isn’t symmetrical, is also longer than the others and flawed in its shape. We don’t expect perfection, but it’s really noticeable. I just didn’t notice it at first because I was so overwhelmed with excitement of being engaged and to have MY ring, that it didn’t even cross my mind to inspect it. I am so disappointed and upset because I waited so long for my ring, my FI put in so much thought/effort, and he spent so much money that we both just wanted it to be done right the first time. I don’t want to be separated, but neither my FI or I can accept the ring as it is. I just wanted to finally HAVE my ring so I could wear it and celebrate our engagement. Now that will have to be delayed. I’m not sure how long I will be without my ring while this issue is being corrected. The entire setting may need to be replaced. I know this is not a serious problem but I am so very disappointed, and my FI is really upset, too. He kept apologizing to me, even though this isn’t his fault… and it made me feel even worse that he’s so upset and feels responsible for giving me a ring with a flaw. My FI said he wants the setting replaced and asked me if I wanted to make any changes. Should I stick with my simple yellow gold setting or go with the pave setting in yellow gold?

I think the plain band will work better with the wedding bands you’re thinking of getting and also there’s something about the beauty of that sapphire without anything to distract from it, I love its yellow on yellow.

@beekeeper: I absolutely love it. If we hadn’t had an heirloom stone id have chosen a yellow sapphire in a heartbeat!

@Robyn0214: Thank you so much for your feedback and for your reassurance. I really appreciate it. You’re right, with the wedding bands I want the simple gold band of the e-ring will suit them better. We’ve decided to keep the same plain yellow gold setting. Our jeweller got back to us and said he also feels it that the setting needs to be replaced. I’m gonna miss my ring so much while it’s gone. Thanks again for your opinion!
