@Songbird29:  Wow, that’s crazy and interesting at the same time.  Where do you usually keep your laptop?

That sucks. What brand is it? Is it still under warranty?

Is it still under warranty?  Even if you didn’t purchase an extended warranty or whatever (I never do!), some manufacturers will cover this under their warranty.

Edit – I bought my laptop from Best Buy in January and the screen went bonkers 3 weeks after I bought it.  I pretty much gave up, thinking Best buy would charge me as much as I paid for the laptop to even look at it, let alone fix it.  My brand (Asus) has a great manufacturer’s warranty, though, which I learned from my uncle.  I finally took it in about a month ago after I stopped feeling sorry for myself (lol).  They fixed it for free!!!

Have you tried looking up a YouTube to watch someone repair it themselves? It might be totally doable with just the cost of parts. I’ve upgraded my MacBook substantially on my own without paying Apple to do it (lasted 7 years so far!) and my husband has fixed the screen on his iPhone several times on his own after dropping and shattering it.

Unless it is under warranty, though, DON’T PAY BEST BUY TO FIX IT. That is possibly the most expensive place/biggest ripoff you could sign up for. Look on Yelp for an independent repair shop.

@Songbird29:  Sending good vibes your way, hope you can get it fixed cheaply!!  Good thought about having your DH talk – mine refused to (he’s just as stubborn as I am), so the result was me waiting 6+ months to get it fixed…lol.
