So today, my manager goes “[KMSull] I need to talk to you when you get done” no big deal… then I realized that my other manager was in the office with her. Closed door meeting… those are NEVER good. So it turns out that our new district manager has decided that my position isn’t needed anymore. I’m in charge of my own department and apparently it’s being dissolved. So. My job, as I knew it… no more. And you guys, I am SO SAD. I loved my department, it was mine and I could do whatever I wanted.
Don’t worry, I still have a job. But now I’m spending two days a week in another department and working in my original department by myself the other 3. But… I hate the other department and I don’t want to be in it. And now I don’t have a choice.

Hi hon: Look, you still have a job. You’re getting married. Just show up, do your work, and go home and work on the wedding. At least you have a job to go to. I’m serious. I understand how upsetting this is; but, you have a wonderful life ahead of you; fun planning your wedding. It’s only a job.

Oh KM, I’m so sorry to hear this. I am at least glad that you aren’t losing your job completely. Do you think you’ll try to look for something else, depending on how things go in the other department?

Aww KM! I’m sorry this happened! I feel you, I really do. It sucks having your power, freedom & joy taken away from you at work. Be sad for a few days. Then make the best of this other department!! You’re a positive, helpful person & I’m sure you can make this new department work for you!

I’m so sorry that happened, it sucks! On the bright side, you still have your job and you get to hang in your office the majority of the week!
I’m pretty sure you mentioned it before and I forgot, but what is it that you do?

Thanks girls! Both J and J (my managers) were really awesome and really were so sad and sorry. But really, there’s only about 50 of us so we’re a family at the end of the day. I’m really glad I still have a job and it’s in the same place, but still sad about losing my mobility. Maybe it’s the push I need to get a real job!

I’d say just make the best out of what you can do in the new-vamped position. Sorry to hear things are changing!

KM, I remember you said you’d be happy to get another job when I posted about my new job, so maybe this is the perfect time to find something new! I’m so sorry that this had to happen though…it must be such a shock to the system to have to change so suddenly.
Maybe you’ll learn to like the new department though, and if not…take some time to apply for other opportunities and see if you can continue in the direction that you love!!
Best of luck to you!
