I think that your ring looks great, and setting it like that was a good choice. I like that it’s not a perfect square!

What I find interesting about diamond “cut” is that most of the “rules” seem to pertain to round brilliants and not fancy cuts/shapes.

When it comes to fancy shapes, you actually need to see the stone more so than with round brilliants in order to determine if the stone is to your liking.  While certain characteristics (ie length to width ratio, table dimensions, etc) may make a certain stone “more desirable” by industry standards, I think a lot more is left to personal preference.

For example, I often am attracted to oval diamonds that are shorter and fatter than what the industry consideres to be a “desirable” oval. 

My point is that a stone doesn’t have to meet anyone’s standards but yours and your SOs.  πŸ™‚

I think it looks GREAT!  As long as you and your SO love it, that’s what matters!
