Lovely! Amethyst always reminds me of my favorite fictional Canadian, Anne Shirley, who always envisioned diamonds looking like amethysts, and was dissapointed when they didn't live up to that vision :)

When my fiance proposed it was with a cheapo ring he bought at a gift store because we were in the middle of a gigantic motorcycle road trip and he didn't have time to get a real one-- we upgraded it slightly to a pricey $30 ring that actually fit my finger while we were still on the trip. :)
Yesterday he gave me my real engagement ring! I didn't want a diamond, so I figured he'd get me a gemstone in one of the warm colours I like-- maybe citrine, or something red. He, in turn, had been checking out blue stones, and took a liking to topaz because it's his birth stone.
He surprised both of us with an amethsyt! He fell in love with the three-stone style and liked the little tiny (Canadian) diamonds on the band.
Honestly, I would have never, ever chosen purple for myself, but I love my ring! I'm so excited to have the real thing on my finger. :)
