I have received my Reception dress after 6 months of waiting! I had a seamstress design it/make it, as I couldn’t find what I was looking for online or in stores. All I did, was buy the brocade, and pick one of 6 designs she gave me and voila, it’s done! It is a little big, as we took measurements back in October, and I have since lost about 30 lbs, but she is going to alter it for me about 2 weeks before the wedding.
I was going for a traditional Chinese cheongsam, mixed with modern/couture twist… I am in love with it but I have had mixed reviews from friends and family.
What do you bee’s think?

@rachiebabie: it doesn’t scream ‘cheongsam’ to me (chinese speaker and analyst here), but i do think it’s super fun and the red and gold evoke china for sure. even more fun without the cap-sleeve top bit.

@rachiebabie: I agree with PP, it’s a very fun look. My favorite part is the row of metal clasps along the back. I’m not a big fan of the tulle tiers, though.
But I think it’s a unique way to combine your personality with your heritage, and once it’s fitted to your new body (congratulations on the weightloss), you’re going to rock it at your reception!

@rachiebabie: Love it! Very beautiful, modern but fun!
