Awwww....thanks Miss Peony! (I actually "met" peony flowers for the first time ever yesterday and they are BEAUTIFUL and smell amazing! Just had to say that!)
I think it looks great on you! I love the pattern, and yellow is one of my favorite colors!!! :)
Save for the bra strap, I don't think you look bad on it at all!
@rabbit- I think the dress looks great on you, it's very fun and flirty! What exactly do you dislike?
I think you look great! BUT, if you feel like you hate it and won't feel comfortable, then maybe you should look for another dress (and maybe sell this one). But if you do go with this one, please know that you look so pretty in it!!!
I'm a plus size lady myself...I voted to try and sell the dress and get something else. It's a fun dress, but I wouldn't say I love it (especially for this occasion)...the neck line and the way it fits just doesn't seem flattering. I know how tough it can be to find dresses that do but I would keep searching. Lane Bryant is where I find a lot of my clothes...
Good luck!
~Amber
I think it's a really cute dress. I think you'll feel better without the bra straps showing and when the farmer's tan/sundburn fades.
Would be super cute with a bright colored flower in your hair.
I like the dress and think that you could probably wear a different bra/undergarments to feel more confident in it. Really, we're all stuck taking dress photos in bridal shops with their unflattering flourescent lighting. I'm sorry, but NO ONE looks their best in these photos. I'd say to trust your memory of yourself in the dress over the flash-photographic "evidence" because you'll be wearing it at your party, not in a brightly-lit store dressing room.
i think it's a really cute dress, and maybe with the right undergarments and maybe a little alterations it might look even better? it looks like maybe the halter needs to be a bit shortened so the top comes up a little higher? i'm not a sewing person, so i could be totally wrong, but i think it could look even better if it was raised higher
Thanks for the feed back everyone!
I guess what I dislike most is how it looks a bit droopy on me and puts my arms on display. Maybe a semestress could take a look at it and fix the droopy bits, tighten it up a bit. Proper undergarmets would certainly help as well! I wasn't expecting to find anything for myself while looking for the moms' dresses. As for my arms...I hate them in absolutely everything I wear, so I guess its simply something I'll have to work on over the next few months- toning them as best I can. I really like the idea of getting a bright flower to wear in my hair! :D
I think its a cute dress, and you should wear it. As others have mentioned, get the proper undergarments and a little bit of alterations and you will feel as good as you look!
I think it looks good on you and it makes me sad to hear you say that it's 'you not the dress'! If, ultimately, you don't like the dress/don't feel comfortable in it, then try to sell it and buy something else. But I thinkjust simply wearing the correct bra would do wonders. Another option is to wear a little cardian or shawl over it, if you are uncomfortable with your arms. Overall - I think it's a great dress =)
I was going to say proper undergarments, but you already mentioned that :)
A good bra with lift will help with the droopiness.
Also, is it an option to cut it off just below the knee, or do you prefer long dresses? I was surprised to see it was long - it would make a super cute short dress with that bright pattern!
I like the dress a lot, but if you don't like it, try to sell it because it's your rehearsal and you should feel beautiful.
I'm a big girl and I say that dresses with a high waist like this one tend to make us look pregnant. I am a big fan of A-line dress for flattering all figures. A shawl could be used to cover the arms if your arms bother you (they do for me!)... If your budget is really tight, try the resale shops - you'd be suprised the kinds of formal dresses people wear once (or never) and donate.

While out looking for dresses for my mom and my FMIL for the wedding this weekend, I too tried on a few dresses. I ended up deciding on and buying a BM dress on clearance from David's Bridal. Both moms said it looked great and I should get it. At the time, I LOVED it. I thought I looked amazing in it and the chiffon material with satin under layer felt amazing.
Then, I saw the pictures of myself in it. I feel like I look AWEFUL. Just horrible. I don't know what to do. Its non-returnable and our budget is such that I really cannot justify buying a second dress. Ugh. The way the dress ought to look can be seen on David's Bridal's website, HERE. And below, well, you can see how I look in it.
What does everyone think? Keep the dress, wear it, and deal with hating how I look in pictures? Try to sell it and get another, better dress? Or is it just that I'm a large woman and I'm just bound to look terrible in anything? (IE: Its me, not the dress that's the problem.)
P.S. I apologize for showing bits of my bra to the world! Just ignore the cream colored straps and flashes in the below photos please!
P.P.S. This also makes me worry that I'm going to look awful in my wedding dress when it arrives next month! :O It suppose to hug my curves closer then this dress. GAH!
