After two threads dedicated to RHRs and on the verge of buying the knot ring that was a favourite, I decided to have one last look at Etsy. And I decided to look at ALL rings in my price range, not just rose gold. Yep, there were hundreds! But I was bored on the train home from work, so I figured it was a decent way to pass time.
And then I saw it.
The PERFECT ring for me.
It wasn’t rose gold. It wasn’t morganite. It wasn’t anything close to what I’d been looking for (sorry to all those who put time into giving me advice! oops). But it was perfect. And at $130 (even though $40 of that was shipping), it was in my very limited budget!
Here’s why I’m so obsessed:
- It’s so pretty, but not so big/flashy as to overpower my engagement ring
- It’s small enough to be able to wear every day (it’s my birthday present from my 91 year old grandma, I want this ring to be a lasting memento of her when she passes)
- I was hoping for something I could wear on my wedding day, as my grandma won’t be able to travel over for it. It’s going to be my SOMETHING BLUE!!!
- The main stone of my mum’s engagement ring is a dark blue sapphire. So it’s going to be a treasured reminder of both my nana AND my mum.

@kat2014: Thanks! All those reasons are the reason it jumped off the page at me and basically just screamed GET ME… and why I think whilst I really *liked* some of the other rings I was looking at, I was still ambivalent and searching. I don’t usually spend anywhere near to this on jewellery for myself so it was/is a BIG purchase and I’m glad I finally found the one that truly spoke to me for all the right reasons.

I should add this came at the end of probably the worst day I’ve had in the past year – had a job interview at 1, thought it went really well then found out at 3:30 that I hadn’t got it. Usually I’d be philosophical but my contract ends on 11 June and I can’t afford to be unemployed! To make the day even worse an hour later I don’t put my plan B, to go back to the work department I had previously come from (two different public sector areas under the same umbrella) was no longer an option for reasons too long to explain here. So I’m back at square one with only two weeks to go 🙁 to say the least, finding this ring was a small silver lining 😛

@Audrey2: thanks 🙂 Now I can’t wait to have it on my hand! Although I misread, it ships out after 10 days not arrives so I will have to be a touch more patient 😛
