Sorry your ring broke, but depending on the metal, you should be able to take it in to a jewelers and they can fix it on the spot, if they have a jewelry repair on site. I would call around.
So sorry that your ring broke! Honestly, I think they are going to have to replace the band. If they just patched it up, it will be more likely to break again later in the same place due to the stress. I don't know if you will have it back by the wedding unfortunately, since they probably will need you to mail it. At least you will be getting a new ring then to tide you over!
I'm hoping if I pay for overnight shipping they will be able to get it done, but my FH did say it took them over a month to make the ring in the first place! Hopefully, when I call, I will get someone sympathetic to the fact that my wedding is so close and they can rush it through.
ETA: I don't want to take it to a different place than where we bought it, because it's supposed to have a Lifetime Warranty on it.
Oh my goodness. I am so so so sorry. I actually gasped when I read this. I hope it gets fixed in time. :(
Oh no, how did it happen?! I'm so, so sorry! Can you get a stand in? It makes me crazy when I forget a piece of jewelry!
I might be able to get a stand in, I'm not really sure how it happened. I have a habit of twisting the ring around my finger, and I was twisting it and it didn't feel smooth like it normally does. I had just been cooking, so I thought maybe something was stuck on the inside of the band, but nope, the band was actually broke! My band is what they call a thin seed design. It varies in width from 2 mm to 2.6 mm. The band broke where it's most narrow at 2 mm.
Yikes! Is that a common thing for that type of band? Or were you just (un)lucky? :(
I don't know! That's what kills me! Because my wedding band is the same way! I will be asking when I call on Monday, but as of now, I have know idea how common a problem that is.
Ugh, that is SO stressful. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this, especially like 4 seconds before your wedding. :(
I know, that's the worst, like I don't have enough on my plate, I have to worry about this too!
Let's just hope and pray that this was a freak thing, and not something common to that band-style!!!
I have been teary since it happened. Trying not to cry in front of the FH. I will probably have a good long cry in the shower tomorrow morning. I really, really hope this was a freak accident and not a common problem!
I'm so sorry - that must have been awful to discover! I hope that your ring will be fixed soon - but take care, you'll have a wedding ring soon!
my engagement ring broke about 7 weeks before my wedding as well. I had bought my ring in Boston but was living in Australia so there was no way the original jeweler could fix it for the wedding. I took it to a local reputable jeweler who fixed it. They did a great job and I then put the ring in it's box and refused to wear it until the wedding. Good thing to because the day we got back from our honeymoon I look down to discover one of the pave diamonds had fallen out. Now back in Boston, I took the ring back to the jeweler that I bought it from and said I needed the pave replaced. I was worried that I would have voided the warranty by having someone else work on it too, but the original jeweler never said a word to me about it.
UPDATE!
So I called James Allen, where we bought the ring. They aren't sure if it will be covered under the warranty or not. Don't worry, I will be arguing this with them if they call to tell me it's not covered. But I will be sending the ring in today for overnight delivery, and they will *hopefully* have it back by December, 23. If not, I have given them an address to mail it to in Ohio, since we leave for Ohio on the 24th. But, they seem to think they will have it done in time! Which is uber exciting! Just sucks that I am without my e-ring until then. I miss it already....
UPDATE!!!!!
Getting my ring back today and I didn't have to pay for it! I can't wait to get it back! My finger feels sooo lonely.....
awesome!!!!! good for you! when i started reading this post i was going to say go to a kay in the mall. we got my fi's wedding band online and it was too big and they sized it perfectly. it has a pattern and i don't know how, but they didn't interrupt it at all. and it was super fast, like maybe a week total, but some stores do repairs on site.
uumm maybe post some ring pics?
So glad your ring was repaired and returned to you in plenty of time! It's great that the jeweler stood by his work.

I am sooo heartbroken! The band on my engagement ring broke today. I'm getting married in 18 days. What if I can't get it fixed by then? Since we bought the ring online, I have to wait until Monday, to call James Allen and see what they will be able to do. I'm so upset. The ring is just sitting in its box right now, and my hand feels so naked. My FH doesn't understand why I am this upset, his mentality is just that there's nothing we can do about it now, but I can't sleep because I am so sad. Has anyone had their band break before? If so, how was it repaired? I need some encouraging words, bees.
