I absolutely LOVE my ring, so this is making me pretty upset. I just got it Thursday night, and yesterday I noticed that when I look at it from the side, the halo and center stone appear to have been set crookedly.
The ring did not originally have a halo. The jewler (Shane Co) has an option to add a halo to any ring, so that’s what FI did. It looks like whoever soldered the pieces together just stuck the halo on and didn’t make an effort to make sure it was set straight.
The ring has a warranty, so I know I can just take it back and have it fixed. But it’s irritating that it seems to be something caused by carelessness, and I have never had anything but good experiences with Shane Co in the past.
I took a couple pictures so you can see what I’m talking about. It doesn’t look as bad in the pictures, but it’s definitely more obvious in person. Also if you look at it from the top, the halo is a little crooked that way too.
Here you can see it’s leaning to the left:
And here’s from the other side, leaning slightly to the right:
Like I said, it’s more obvious in person. It was kind of difficult to get a picture.
Does anyone else see this, or am I just crazy? And has anyone else had an issue iike this with their ring?

It took me a while, but I can see what you mean about how it is tilted a bit.

I honestly do not see what you are talking about. Maybe I’m the crazy one!

I can see what you mean, and I’m normally oblivious to these kinds of things. It doesnt look TOO bad though, but if it bothers you a lot, I’d send it back for them to fix it.

It’s slightly off. Yes, I see it. I am a stickler so, this would totally bother me too. I hope they can fix it for you and quick. It sucks to be away from your ring, even for a little while.

I see it, but only a little bit, and only after REALLY looking for it.
However, my ring had a similar issue – tiny from a big-picture perspective, but it really bugged me (one of the side stones on the band was set way lower than the other side stones, and the metal near the problem stone was not smooth). It bothered me enough that I always put the ring on with that side facing away from me. I thought about it every time I put the ring on.
I sent it back to be fixed, and I’m so glad I did. It’s worth it to not have a “good” and “bad” side to your ring! I’d say definitely take it in to be fixed, especially as it’s under warranty.

Good to know I’m not totally nuts! 🙂
I got one that’s a little bit better. The tilt is more obvious, and closer to what it actually looks like on my finger:
I guess I’m going to take it in to be fixed tomorrow. It sucks, though, especially since I’ve only had it for 2 days!

Mine isn’t perfectly straight either. The diamond’s point leans to one side more than the other, but that happened because it isn’t perfectly symmetrical…no one can tell but me, but it still bugged the s*** out of me.

Oh no! That would really annoy me!
definitely take it back so they can set it straight.

You would think a professional jeweller with integrity would notice the crooked product and ajust it before giving it to you! I own a lot of jewellery and it does happen here and there that I notice my piece is crooked or missing a stone when I pick it up. It’s crazy but it happens at reputable stores too.
My e-ring and wedding band were soldered crooked so I asked them to do it again after trying for months to get used to it. They did a better job but it’s still crooked. Seriously?! Oh well, I give up! hehe
I hope they fix it quickly. You must not want to take it off!

@ladydawg86: the last pic is totally crooked take it back, it will drive you mad until you do

I see it, definitely take it back to be fixed. They should have known better than to release it like that!!

Thanks everyone, glad to see you all can see it too. I am going to take it back sometime this week. I just can’t believe they could do such crappy work and not think someone might notice it, especially on something as important as an engagement ring! 🙁

I see the lean too….sorry girl!
