Ugh so unhappy about this… I need to vent.
Hubby got my ering and wedding band from Kay jewelers. About 3 months before the big day, a small diamond from the ering band fell out. No big deal, it’s small and hardly noticeable with plenty of time to repair it. Luckily my Mr. had purchased the warranty to cover issues like this… Right?
well we take the ring in, and the tell us the warranty was voided about a month prior due to lack of ‘diamond checks’. we weren’t aware of these check ups because they never told us anything to do with the matter. Well alrighty then, slap on the wrist- we have them repair the diamond and solder the wrap to the band. They tell us some other settings are loose that they will repair as well for a small price…along with the warranty renewal. We pay, and send the ring off to be nursed back to health.
we get the ring back- all repaired and beautiful with the wedding wrap in place ready for the big event. The wedding day comes, and is amazing!! 🙂 and I got to finally sport my now beautiful wedding ring!
3 happily married months later, I’m relaxing at home while Mr. is off playing hockey. I catch sight of something odd out of the corner of my eye-something is out of place on my finger… I lift my hand to look at my ring, and yes something is very out of place… My CENTER DIAMONDS are GONE! Leaving nothing but a gaping hole in the center of my ring.. I had to double (more like quadruple) check to be sure I wasn’t losing my mind, yep.. They’re gone. So what do I do? Start ripping the couch apart, pace the room, dump my purse, rip the couch apart again- for a total of 5 times I’m assuming, then send hubs a picture of the sad sight, and then cried. I mean complete break down. Ugh ok I started breathing again, put the couch together and go to bed.
we were busy busy busy, so 2 weeks after the fact we take the ring to Kay. (The warranty is up kept if you have a check up every 6months- this disaster happened less than the 6 month mark- so the warranty is still good). Well I get there and explain my case. Whoops, the associate who helped us less than 5 months ago didnt put in paperwork to show the renewal of the warranty. Ohh I was not happy with this. They call corporate to see what can be done. Okay- they’ll cover the diamonds but not the metal work. I’m thinking ‘okay not bad, I can live with that’ and I proceed to ask the cost. She replies ‘well it’s a quad setting, and you lost all of the wire work, so about $400’. Oh dear.. I call hubby and he had some not so nice words slip out and makes his way to meet me there. He tells me to leave and find some shoes to buy for work. Hastily I leave him there and start my unpleasant shoe hunt.. He comes and finds me and tells me they had him call corporate in which they called the store, and covered everything. Much better.. Ring will be back withing 90 days.. Which sucks, but we saved our wallets.
moral of the story- I am very sad to not only have 5 diamonds fall out of 1 ring in less than a year, but to have a jewelery store that we have bought many pieces from, try and pull that on us. Needless to say, when all of this is said and done, Kay has lost business from us. Such a disappointment.
alright sorry for the length, but vent is over and I feel much better. This was a real life wedding NIGHTMARE.
