I have to admit, I'm SOOOOOOOO HAPPY!!! I can't believe this ring is mine!!
The background is that I was OVER THE MOON when we got engaged May last year. We live in the UK but I'm from Brazil originally, and we decided to get a diamond in Brazil because it's much cheaper there and I had a trip planned to go there the month after we got engaged. So we agreed to buy the diamond and put it on a temporary (i.e. non precious metal) setting until we knew what setting we wanted.< alt="My Ring is in!!! What do you guys think??
I sort of got used to my old setting and sometimes wondered if I should just do the same... but after much thinking I decided to go for a cushion halo around my round stone!
And I TOTALLY love it :)
What do you guys think?

@Kings7911: I don't mind at all! Ask away! But I got it here in the UK through a guy that specialises in jewlery. I got a recommendation with a friend which was AMAZING bc he was not only cheaper than normal jewlers but also amazing!
@MrsWright: I voted for old setting. Personally, I'm not a fan of halos. I like the big boy front and center, no distractions.
Still, either is beautiful!
I voted old setting, just because halos aren't my bag. But all the better for you if you dig it!

I love the new setting because I am VERY fond of round stones with cushion halos
First setting... Timeless. Second setting... Trendy.
But as long as you are as happy as you sound, that's all that matters.
@Rubbs: i think girls with halo's will disagree on the trend statement especially since halo's have been around forever!!!
OP I LOVE the new setting - it is absolutely stunning and I'm sure you will get tons of compliments on it IRL! I also think solitaires are a bit boring so am a HUGE halo lover!

first setting was nice enough but the second setting is GORGEOUS! I think the center stone pops more in a halo, which is not something I ever thought i'd say!
@MrsWright: I love it! Can I ask you why you decided to get a cushion halo instead of a round halo if you had a solitare? I'm just curious because I've had my heart set on possibly a cushion cut halo but I like how the round looks with the cushion halo. Are there any notable differences?

I think it is freaking gorgeous! Going to be honest, I would LOVE a setting like our ring has - was talked out of it by the jeweler and DH due to 'trendiness'...but it's three years later now and they're still around and gorgeous as ever!

@Jewelieee: I personally think that a cushion halo with a round diamond looks overall larger in size rather than a round halo.
