My SO and i were talking about our wedding and we are wanting an outside wedding and he suggested that I put my dog (Gizmo) in our wedding as a “flower dog”. His exact words were “I want Gizmo in our wedding. It would be cute”
Dont get me wrong, Im very attatched to my furbaby and I also think it would be adorable if she was a flower dog. Of course she cant throw out flowers but she could walk with the real flower girl in a cute little dress, but concern would be our guests. Would they think it would be a little too far fetched or think its rediculous to put my dog in our wedding?
Here are some pictures of my furbaby that thinks shes a real baby. She an 8 pound Maltese
All these pictures are of these same dog. Some pictures are of her freshly groomed and some pictures are of her looking kind of shabby lol

I’d be worried about Gizmo pooping/peeing on someone or in your venue. Maybe you can just include your dog in some pictures?

DH wanted to have our lab puppy in our wedding, and I put the kibosh on that! She loves people so much an is a jumper, so I just knew she would have been going crazy during the wedding. He wasn’t too happy about me saying no, but it was or the best in our case.

I want our dogs in our wedding but I’m not sure… I think it’s pretty likely that they would just sniff people and try to play

My dog isnt very playful (Shes 6 years old) She is specifically a lap dog. Thats all she does is sit in my lap. She was playful when she was a puppy but she stopped playing when she got older. She would be more than happy to just sit in my lap all day, every day.
She follows me around everywhere so I dont think there would be issues of her bothering the guests.

@cmoest: HOLY PRECIOUS!!! I soooo wanted to have our furbaby in our wedding but the venue wouldn’t allow it. We have an 11-year old westie who is just as chill and sweet as can be, so she would’ve walked down the aisle just fine as long as someone accompanied her.
If you think she would walk down the aisle ok and not try to sniff and jump on anyone, I say go for it if it’s what you want! Who cares if other people think it’s too “out there”… it’s YOUR wedding and I would think it was totally awesome if it was me!

@cmoest: Aww cute! I have a bichon yorkie who is the same way (she’s 7), but she gets excited so I think she most likely would run up to some people, especially the ones she knows.
Could you just get her a cute little outfit to wear and walk down the aisle with someone?

@cmoest: I love the idea of a dog in a wedding, but I am a dog person. Even if someone is not a dog person, I doubt they would be afraid of your little furbaby – not exactly a threatening face! I would say as long as you are sure the dog is well trained enough to listen to you and behave at the ceremony, it’s a great idea!
ETA: our dog is going to be in our wedding but he will have a handler to control him. If we gave him free run to go wherever he wanted, I’m not convinced he would go where he was supposed to go, lol.

if your dog behaved? will he follow directions? do you have somewhere to put him when his job is finished?

@cmoest: It does depend somewhat on the dog’s personality. That said, one of the few requests my husband had was to have our dogs at the wedding. Our venue was dog friendly and it worked just fine for us. Neither one pooped or pee’d during the ceremony (my husband took them on a long morning walk to ensure that) and they didn’t jump up on any guests. We paid for a kid’s meal (chicken tenders and mac & cheese) for them to eat, had water bowls there and designated some people ahead of time to watch the dogs while photos were being taken. If you plan things out ahead of time it will be fine. Plus people thought it was cute that we had the dogs there.

I was in a wedding where they did the same thing you are talking about. He was the ring bearer and they had 2 flower girls walk him down the aisle.
Guess it depends on the dog. He was very well behaved in general (he doesn’t jump or run off, no pooping inside) and good around large groups of people. So he did well.
By the way, the coordinator took him immediately after he walked down the aisle and he was taken back to their hotel room (ceremony was in the hotel).
