- Wedding: June 2012
I’ve had my “something old”s for a while now, but I recently did some surgery on the earrings to make them “new” again.
My bracelet and earrings are my something old. They were my grandma’s from the 1950s and I used to play dress-up with them at her house when I was little. When my pap passed away when I was 12 and we cleaned out their house, I insisded on keeping her jewelry. I didn’t have anything in particular I wanted to do with it and my dad wanted to sell it at the estate sale, but I wouldn’t let him. 10 years later, I’m pretty darn glad I was so stubborn because they have become my wedding jewelry.
The only problem was that the earrings were on fish hook backs, which I am notorious for losing because they always work their way out of my ears. The last thing I want is to be worrying about losing an earring on the wedding day, especially one that is so sentimental to me (and I don’t think I’d ever forgive myself if I DID lose it!). So I went to Burlington Coat Factory and bought some cheapie CZ earrings with post backs that I could attach the earrings to. And it worked! And I love them even more now!
So without further ado, here are pictures. The diamond-shaped parts of the earrings are my grandma’s earrings, and the circle part are the new posts.
