Sorry about the lack of picture for a few minutes there! I was having computer issues. You ought to be able to see the picture now!
I think they look good! My only suggestion might be that the color of font might not be readable against the picture of the boat.
If it were me, I think I'd make a rounded rectangle shape that's the color of the bride's dress and put your information in there.
I could be completely wrong, though. Maybe it's just the size of the image that makes it look difficult to read : )
It's a really cute picture, though, did you draw that, too?
I LOVE these! Whimsical for sure. And I highly reccommend Vista Print. I did my wedding invites and other party invites through them. Although make sure you search for online coupons first - They often have 50% off plus free shipping.
@dachshund- maybe if we lightened the color of the text to a white? Or if we bolded the text? i don't want to go the white box route (my FI suggested that too!) because I love the picture and don't want to cover up a huge amount of it. As for the picture, I did not draw it (my skills do NOT fall in painting/drawing! i leave that to my artist sister.). I found it...somewhere...months ago and saved it because it was whimsical and romantic. It is actually a tiny corner of a larger picture.
@stine_white- If you can use MS paint, you can use Illustrator! I'm self taught. My first two attempts at invites were....scary! I actually was sobbing at the end of my first try. However, I presisted, read some tutorials, and winged the rest. i can't do too complex of stuff, but I've taught myself enough to make invitations, STDs, and RSVP cards! You can do it too! :)
@poli2b- thanks! i'll def look for coupons first!
they are very cute and well done. good job!
I love these! Please don't cover up those awesome waves with a box! ^_^ I agree, maybe a lighter color for the font? White, gray, very light blue...? Great idea for STDs!
I like these and agree you might want to bold the font on the bottom to stand out.
Very cool!
LOVE the idea of white text - maybe bold it, too. I think it would REALLY standout against the waves. Congrats on finishing your StDs! We're in the last stages of ours, "packaging" them, so I'm a little envious of your super whimsical ones & the fact that you're done!
Very pretty!! I agree with some of the others that it might be a little hard to read so just use a white text! Otherwise great job!
These are great! I agree with possibly making the text stand out more but they are just so darn unique. I like them. I've used vistaprint before as well and they do a wonderful job.
just a reminder to people, you should probably get an artist's permission before incorporating their image into your wedding.
Those look great - though I would definitely suggest making the font lighter. Perhaps a white font? or a light yellow? But vistaprint should do a great job for you!
Very cute and so unique! I love them! And I agree, use white text and bold it so that it can be read a little easier.
Those are freaking adorable! I would definitely hang one on my fridge if someone sent that to me!
This is so pretty!
I actually think the text would be more readable in black than white, but it does need something to set it apart a little more from the drawing - how about a fine, semi-transparent outline stroke in the lightest wave colour?
ETA: Also, I agree with @evahesse; if it's existing work by an artist, you should secure their permission before reproducing it. :)
If you are getting married next September when are you sending these out? I'm getting married next August and haven't even thought about our STDs yet!!!! yikes i need to get on it.
@BeachBug- We're getting married on a Friday before a long weekend when its popular to take vacation (labor day) AND almost all of our guests will be coming in from out of town (including 3-6 from Japan, 2 from South Korea, 2-4 from Germany, and 4-6 from Canada!). I am planning to send these out in mid-to-late November to give guests from out of the country (as well as the tons who simply live on the other side of this one!) a chance to get in their requests for time off and begin to hunt for awesome flight deals. Since many of our out of country guests are extra special to us, we want to make sure they get extra special treatment from us.

Finished these last night in Illustrator. My fiance is iffy about them, but he's iffy about everything! I want to use vistaprint to get them made into magnets for our guests to hang on their fridge doors. I want to send these out soon because we're getting married on the Friday before a long holiday weekend and I don't want people to make other plans and not be able to attend!
What do you think? Would you enjoy getting this in the mail?
