Hi lovely bees,
I went dress shopping for the first time this weekend and have a two favourites I would like your opinions on.. We are having a small intimate wedding of 35-40 close family and friends at a beautiful winery with a chapel onsite. The reception will be a formal dinner party with a Black Tie Optional or Preffered dress code (still deciding which one to put on the invites).
I really love Dress 1, it is classic, simple and I felt beautiful in it. It was the very first dress I tried on and made one of my lovely friends cry when I came out. However I am worried it is a little boring or maybe too simple? I would love your honest opinions (I know I need a good pair of spanks on the day!).
This is Dress 2, excuse the photo, we had to sneak the pic! I loved it too which I was really surprised about as I was sure I wanted no beading and definitely no feathers! But it felt fun and comfortable and the back is devine. It is a lot more expensive than the first though and I’m worried it’s a little too much as I normally dress very simply..
What do you all think? Did you have the “this is THE dress” feeling or did you have a bit of indecision?

@Beneer: Definitely #1. The second one looks like a party dress.

@Beneer: i love the first dress on you. it’s perfect for your figure. a blingy belt and a statement necklace or earrings will dress this up beautifully.

@Beneer: I love the first one! Gorgeous!

@Beneer: I like the first one, with major accessories to spice it up

Wow…that is tough. They’re so different, they both look GREAT on you, and both are perfect for your event. I love the elegant simplicity of #1, and the vintage glam of #2. In the end it just depends on what look you want to go for!
One thing to keep in mind is that you can really go nuts with accessories if you get the first one. A beautiful statement necklace, a beaded belt, some bejeweled bracelets, even gloves…there are so many options! The second one would probably go best with more minimal accessories, since it has so much sparkle on its own. Not sure if that helps you with your decision at all, but it’s something to consider!

Thank you all! You are definitely right about Dress 1 giving me more options for accessories. I am now thinking of keeping it quite simple for the ceremony and adding a statement necklace or earrings etc for the reception.
Thanks to all the bees that voted too!

Beneer: Please Please PLEASE tell me what designer the first dress is!! I’ve been looking for one exactly like it!

I really love number one on you. I would add a statement necklace, something fun and unexpected, do a high bun, and stud earrings. super chic!

Beneer: The first dress is absolutely breath taking on you. You look very glamourous but in a classic way. The second dress is pretty but it does look more party like. You could always wear it at the reception if you wanted to. I vote for the first one

Beneer: The first dress is beautiful on you! It is so classic! You could also add some jewelry to spice it up a little too 🙂

Beneer: I absolutely LOVEEEE #1

Dress 1 is elegant, simple yet classic. Very beautiful!!
Dress 2 is nice, but like someone said, looks more like a party dress.

Beneer: The both look beautiful on you, but #2 is definitely my favorite. To me, your wedding dress should have some bling….but I know I may be in the minority:)

Beneer: I think dress #1 is extremely lovely and appropriate for your wedding plans/venue, but I do see that it is very simple and that you might regret not having something fancier, especially since your wedding will be Black Tie. Dress #2 is fun, and I think for your wedding it’s worth having something fancier than you normally wear, but I don’t know about those feathers. . . otherwise it is beautiful!
I didn’t vote since I can’t decide. I am leaning towards #1, particularly since you can accessorize, and the fabric looks like very high-quality, luxurious, beautiful silk. Would you choose to wear a belt? Those can fancy up a simple dress quickly! Or you could select some big, statement jewelry to wear with it (and you could buy some really interesting jewelry with the $ you would save if you got the plainer dress, also!).
