@WestCoast: That's so exciting! Isn't it a good feeling when your SO starts noticing things about diamonds? (Sorry, I'm a huge diamond fanatic!) It shows that they are doing some research. . .or at least taking lots of mental notes!!!
@ChicChick: Thank you! I'm excited too! We're still shy about talking about it, or even directly looking at rings (though I think that will come). So we were looking at diamond pendants and things. So exciting to know that he is thinking about it, looking and taking notes!! ..... now if only I knew what kind of ring I want for sure (I've never tried any on, so there are styles I drool over, but I don't know how they'd be for me).

I haven't posted in a couple of weeks, I've been trying to stay away from all the hype. But of course I've been checking on you all and reading your updates (congrats to all the newly engaged bees!!).
Also, I downloaded IE 9 and I couldn't post anything at all. (But that's for the techies to worry about).
Sometimes I have mixed feelings about weddings. Sometimes I'm not really sure that I want one at all. Don't get me wrong, I love my SO, and do want to be with him forever, and do want to be married to him (and definitely do want the something sparkly too). But sometimes I just don't feel like I need a wedding to do that.
Why do I feel this way. Well 1: SO's family basically wouldn't come to the wedding, because they aren't very close, his family is very small, they don't have much money, and we live on a different continent. SO we'd be lucky if 3 (literally) members of his family showed up. And 2: I also feel this way because I HATED my brother's wedding. It was beautiful, and his wife is great, but it was just so much work. There were tons of politics and zero enjoyment. I'm not sure that I want that for myself.
So how about eloping? Well.... I am really close with my family. My whole family. Of like 100 people. So there isn't really an option for a small wedding. Unless I just did my parents, and brother and a couple others and just went for dinner at a nice restaurant with 20 of us or something. But, i am the only daughter, and my mother would love to plan a huge wedding at some amazing venue or even in her own backyard (my parents have an amazing house and yard, and this is where my brother had his wedding reception). I honestly don't believe that my mother will let me get away with a small wedding (or none at all). Also, I am so close to my dad (much closer than I am to my mother) and I kind of feel like I'd be robbing him of getting to take me down the isle..
The good news is that I'm sure a proposal is still a while off for me, so hopefully I'll figure it all out before then.
Oh and one more piece of excitement/progress... SO has been more and more interested in walking through jewelry stores etc lately. Today we even walked through a new Tiffany's store that has recently opened and when we came out he said something like "I've noticed that the diamonds in Tiffany are so much sparkly than anywhere else." So it looks like I might get a Tiffany when the time comes! (he is the type to spend the $ - but we share all accounts and make similar salaries so I don't feel that guilty).
Thanks for being here for my bees!
