- Wedding: September 2013
It’s quite a long story, but I’ll start at the very beginning.
My BF and I had planned a lovely Valentine’s Day together. I was coming home for the weekend. (We are in an LDR and he lives in near my hometown.) We were going to spend the day together, pampering eachother, (Candlelight bath, massages etc.) then going out to one of my favourite resturants for dinner in the evening.
However, my University moved the hand in date forwards for one of my assignments to 9am Tuesday Morning, which meant I had to go back on Valentine’s Day, as it takes around 3 hours to get back to Lancaster. We had to cancel our plans. I was not impressed. At all.
So, the whole day was spent travelling back to Lancaster and finishing my assignment. (My lovely BF was a great help.) I finally finished it at around 7pm, so we decided to go out to dinner. We were lucky to get a table at a cute little italian place that I heard was good. During the whole meal, we were the typical loved up couple. (Holding hands over the table, gazing lovingly into eachother’s eyes and eating food off eachother’s forks.) After dinner, we went for a walk around town and went to a bar for a few drinks, were we carried on being sickeningly smug with eachother.
It wasn’t until we got back to the house that I share with 3 other girls that he proposed. I had just gone to the bathroom. When I came back, he was stood in the middle of my room, looking suspicious. He began by saying a really lovely speech about how much I meant to him and how much he loved me before getting down on one knee and asking me to marry him.
I was a mess! I started crying (tears of joy) from the minute he got down on one knee and opened the ring box, but I must have said yes, because the next thing I knew, I had a beautiful ring on my finger.
Here it is:
Sorry the photo is so big.
Personally, I don’t think the photo does the ring any justice. It’s so pretty.
Apparently, all of his family knew and so did my parents (who knew because he asked my dad for my permission) so the only people who were genuinely surprised were my sisters and friends.
He was carrying the ring around with him all day because he didn’t want to lose it and I didn’t even notice!I am still in shock about it all. I keep having to look at the ring and ask him if it actually happened!
